Mac Book Pro

Hello all

Having had a HP Laptop for 5 years or more and several towers and wot not prior to that i thought  that a new laptop would be wise and after much looking I bought a Mac Book Pro. They have a lot of programs already loaded i bought office and it runs all my transferred windows files from word excel etc it even had its own version of capturer called grab already loaded. The battery seams to last forever between charges and it starts quicker than my samsung smartphone. I have made high def movies from the preloaded software something windows wouldn't do, any other happy macs out there ?

We have owned eight Macs since 2004 - very happy with them. (I also use and quite like Ubuntu and Windows 7, 8 & 10, but prefer the Macs)

At times they can be a bit puzzling to people who have been using Windows for a long time - happy to answer any questions you might have.

Try these:

- hold down the shift key and click the yellow (minimise) button at the top left of the window you are viewing (then click on the minimised window to get it back).

- Similarly Shift-F3.

- Use spotlight as a basic calculator (click the magnifying glass at the top right then type in 6x4 - you should see "= 24" appear alongside.

- Spotlight also does basic currency conversions and unit conversions (type $4, or 4m)

There are many others.

Cheers

Steve

If this thread runs true to form we should soon see numerous posts from happy Windows users.

Apple users cant resist whenever a Windows thread is opened.biggrin

I think I'm what they call an "Apple Fan Boy, I've had at least 6 Macs over the years, the latest is the 27" 5K just stunning, for photos and videos, I have had every iPad since they were released and of course I have an iPhone. in our house between my wife my son and I we have, I Mac, 3 x iPads, 3x iPhones 2x Apples TV boxes 2x Apple Watches. I guess you could say I'm happy with my Apple products, You won't be sorry with your decision.
Cheers

Greg

I had Windows PCs all my computer life then bought a MacBook Pro a few years ago.
As much as I like the graphics & superior colour for photos on the Mac I prefer Windows for organistion of files/music/photos etc.
More freedom & flexibility on the windows platform.
Apple take over from you & want to run your computer world their way.
I went the whole hog, iPod, iPhone, iPad & MacBook Pro.
Although only 5 years old the Mac, which cost $3000 is unable to take the latest upgrades & already some of the upgrades for programmes I run will not run on my OLD Mac so I slowly get left behind.
I am slowly returning having just got rid of the iPhone for an Android, I run 2 laptops - the Mac & an acer notebook.

Just my opinion.

I was a Windoz fan up till around 3 months ago, but I now love my Mac and worth every cent ! would never go back to the dark side.

So easy to use and makes you realize things have actually been thought out rather than jumbled together like win do, no continuous updates to download to keep win running or stop it being compromised.
I don't even run an anti virus, just not needed.

I run an ipad, and iphone 6 and the mac now, all work seamlessly together, just great.

Did I say I love my Mac.
