Hi, unfortunately can't draw, can't paint. There used to be a lady painter on here who did beautiful work, always loved looking at it. Would love to see some of your work but could you explain what is a "Plein Air Painting".

I had the same thought  ..

The answer...

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Painters gathered at Slide Rock State Park,Arizona, in 2006.

En plein air (French pronunciation: [ pln ]), or plein air painting, is a phrase borrowed from the French equivalent meaning "open (in full) air". It is particularly used to describe the act of painting outdoors, also calledFrenchpeinture sur le motif ("painting of the object(s) or what the eye actually sees"), where a painter reproduces the actual visual conditions seen at the time of the painting. This method contrasts with studio painting or academic rules; those might create a predetermined look. En plein air can also be used to describe other activities where a person partakes in an outdoor environment

Hi!  Yes to your question, though certainly not with your experience...but perhaps your age!  I only started painting a few years ago and plein air in earnest this year.  Tried a couple of years ago with water color and then acrylic but with not a lot of success.  All too tight, and too paintily for me.  Now use oil and whole new ball game.  And you?
