a little Info on Lake Colac and also Information needed on Campsite Please

We have left Adelaide and been to Meredith Park...Lake Colac  Reserve camping...Really nice place to stay... Full of Birds and a Beautiful lake yet the  Flies own the area. It gets very full at Christmas time so be early...Limited parking...There are other parking spots that are not allowed to be used there ..I do not know why...and the council will move you on...As a man found out while we were there. Designated Area. With Signs...No excuses and a Fine will be given out....No Fires....I was wondering if any one knows of free camping areas near the out skirts of  Melbourne that cater for 18 foot caravans as we are having trouble finding one...We stayed at Werribee South Caravan Park last Nite. Only $29 a Nite....lovely park yet very very windy We are  going inland today to Seymour for a week and Christmas at ( Wangaratta ) So Please  if you can help us with that question for after Christmas we would love to hear from you...and happy and safe Travelling...and Merry Christmas to you all... Keep a smile on your face because it can make a cloudy day seem pleasant...karensmile

I have discovered on of the best camp spots near Melbourne I think. It is at the Berwick Showgrounds. Only room for about 20 vans so you have to ring to book. Well best too anyways. Water and power, the amenities block is awesome, dump point, and a short walk to supermarkets, hotel and little restaurants. Had the best Thai meal last night in ages.

This morning is a huge market to attend. It has everything you could think of.

The cost is $20 per night, it is safe, secure, and quiet. The caretaker is lovely and meets you at the gate, makes sure you are settled and then leaves you alone. He lives off site. Would certainly recommend to anybody who needs to park up near Melbourne. It is not that far from the Monash Fwy so a quick trip into town if you have to.

Certainly a little hidden gem.

Telephone. 0427 057 768 or (03) 9707 2763. The details are also on Wikicamps.

I think you may find the cost is now $25 per night which is reasonable for city prices.
