Yesterday 17/11th I set the van up at Cairns holiday park ,for 6 weeks ,as I have to have radiotherapy at Cairns base hospital each week day for 6 weeks .Any how after settling in just after lunch decided to use the aircon as it is rather humid up here this time of year, well it went for 2 mins then cut out continuously every time I tried to use it .In the end I called a aircon fellow up to come and have a look to see if it was anything simple ,the young fella arrived 20 minutes later ,he got up on the roof of the van ,took a look at the internals of the aircon box to find that 1 of the exhaust fans was on the way out and seizing up ( not turning) He put everything back together ,I asked him how much ,and we came to an agreement that when or if I found a replacement I would get him back to install the fan. Today I called around to a few places to find and price the item ,at one place they could order one in but it would cost 600-700 $$$$ so after regaining composure I called into a place near Cairns airport that sells camping fridges and is also an agent for Dometic ,they had new ones ,but also had 2nd hand/new ones for a lot less 150 $$$.Well now have a replacement fan ,have called the installer back he will call in this arvo to do the job ,then it is all good ,and for the 2 afternoons work the fellow is only charging 90$$.Can not complain about that ,as I did not think I would find one up here ,and to get one so quickly .

At that price for new fan motors the must be using gold wire for the windings.
It's been quite a while since I have bought any condenser fan motors, but the price then was only about $40 and this is all they should cost now, as they will be coming in from China and the landed cost is probably less than $10 they are only a simple 240v motor.
It's shameful how we are continually being rip off for all types of parts, I bring in parts from the UK for my car at less than a third that Holden charge.
Glad to hear that your air con is now working and hope that all goes well with the radiotherapy. It is now 9 years since major surgery for secondary melanoma, so I hope your outcome will be even better.

Thanks Roving, I had a Pleomorphic Sarcoma taken out on the top left hand side of my back. Doctor he is sure he took it all out but still need radiation ,it goes for 6 weeks which will take me up to 31st December.Thanks JOHN.
