I was about to buy an item on E Bay over the week-end, but thought to check the Sellers feed-back first.
Checking first the positive feed-back, he/she didn't look too bad with a score of 98.9 %
But then I checked the Negative Feed-Back, "STRIKE ME" near on 700 bad comments posted THIS MONTH
The negative comments were mainly related to not receiving the items requested, arrived damaged, wrong item sent, and item received was not the one advertised.
It pays to check who you are sending your hard earned to before posting.
Has anyone else been ripped off on E Bay, ????

Recently had an issue with non-delivery of goods. Sent a complaint to e-Bay and the seller got in touch with me. Organised a re-send. However the seller said they would only resend the goods when I said the issue was closed and could I close the issue. Wrong. Once an issue is closed, you cannot re-open it. Took several more tries via e-Bay to get my item. E-Bay was very good about it and said do not close anything until you have your goods. The vendor has a 99% satisfaction score but given the huge amount of business, 1% is a big number.
Feedback scores are really no guide as most buyers give feedback when they have only just received the product - it then fails after a few days and they cannot retract or change their feedback. I've been caught this way a few times but fortunately have been able to get the product fixed under their warranty (after much haggling!). Feedback is really only about the transaction , not the quality of the product.
Good Luck.

The Feedback on the particular Seller I referred to, had complaints as to the Quality of the product being very poor, and there were also many complaints of items arrived either broken or not of useable quality.
Many complaints were of the seller not replying to these complaints, which in many cases were months old.
Maybe if E bay was to publish the contact number for the Chinese Mafia, there might be some help coming our way .

K.J. - I looked further into feedback and it sure doesn't make one happy - looked up an Aussie car parts supplier with 42000 transactions and 18 negatives yet has feedback score of 100%.

Yes, I am wondering what it takes to reduce the Feedback score below 100% ,
It seems like E bay leans in favour of the Seller, I suppose it is in their interests to do so, but that doesn't help the buyer, as others have said, they have complained and have not received any help.!!
I must say that I have been lucky so far, with all the purchases I have made lately from China ( about a dozen ) I have only had one complaint and that was about an under powered light globe, the seller wanter to refund my money if I removed the bad feed back first and returned the globe, I had to pay the return postage which would have cost more than what the globe was worth, I just forgot about it in the end and making a note of the sellers address not to purchase from them again.
I look at it this way, with the saving on price of purchase from China, compared with what the same item costs to buy local, I am well ahead and if one item turns out to be a dud, I think it's still worth the risk, that is as long as that item doesn't cost more that a few bucks.

18 negs on a turnover of 42000 is a neg feedback of 0.043% so that's a pos of 99.957% Ebay only scores to one decimal place, so that gives him 100% rounded to the nearest one decimal place.
Edit: he'd have to have 22 negs for a turnover of 42,000 to drop him to 99.9%

42000 transactions with 18 negatives works out to a ratio of less than .05%, pretty good effort.
As Abraham Lincoln said:
You can please all the people some of the time, and some of the people all the time, but you cannot please all the people all the time.
I must admit I am a bit of an eBay addict I buy a lot from there.
Always using Pay pal has saved me a couple of times when things didn't work out but I am really pleased generally about what I have purchased.
Recently purchased a 1500w inverter and didn't use it for many months until I took it away to an unpowered camp. First connection was a cloud of blue smoke and popping noises.
After contacting the supplier and explaining I was sent a reply paid sticker for the item and a replacement was organised. Oops no 1500 w in stock would I take a 3000w with me paying the cost price difference. After reading in here, I decided smaller was better and took a 1000w replacement that duly arrived and worked
The $20 refunded to my Pay pal account was a bonus.
Some are good, some are bad I suppose is my message and feedback doesn't really tell you a whole lot unless it is consistently bad.
Another scam they pull is selling from a number of sites so when you complain they aren't bothered with the 1 weeks no trade penalty they have the same rubbish on their other sites, even if they pull them off altogether they just start up as new traders fairly slack administration.
If you are going to complain remember your time to do so is very limited then your purchase history is deleted and then you are really stuffed. Ebay have an investigation team , so they say , but that seems as useful an ashtray on a motorbike. When contacting the seller make sure you file every email to and from them otherwise you may as well bark at the moon if claiming. Good Luck with that . Never make expensive purchases

I got cooned once, the seller was from Tassie, paid by pay pal straight away. Then looked up the town in my post code book. Didn't exist. I reported it straight away to Ebay And they did a report. Took over a month to get my money back.
In the mean time the same add appeared the following week at and extra $10.00 = $360.00
I looked up the town and it didn't exist in NSW this time. So I quickly brought all 10 of them @ $360.00 a go.I did not pay for any of them. And got straight onto Ebay And told them what I had just done to prove my case in full.
If I had been wrong I would have made a nice profit by on selling them.
So if it sounds to good to be true, less then half price anywhere else. Check out the name of the town and its post code first.
