If you don't go very far out into the bush then coverage should be OK. They are on the Telstra network but they don't get the remote area coverage part of it.

We have 2 from Aldi I've got a cheap 100 dollar one and my wife she has a 220 dollar one So far as phone part they all the same I think, they ring and you answer it
I use mine mainly to read ebooks so far no problem
as most products from Aldi they are not brilliant but good
we also use there prepaid phone plan only a few spots hey won't work on the Eastcoast for that we get a Telstra sim for internet only
The only place i found the Aldi service didn't work in my travels last year was Barcaldnie
I was more concerned with the phone itself how it compares with other smart phones for features
A friend had one of the Aldi phones on an oversea trip, most of the others on the trip were able to swap international sim cards into their smart phones and get local coverage but we could not get the Aldi phone to work. No problems when you use the Aldi sim cards in Australia.

Not really. Some have very small inbuilt memory, so with newer apps being larger, they don't allow you to run too many. Some don't have an onboard GPS chip, so you can't use things like wikicamps when you don't have coverage.
Things I'd be looking at in a phone would be:
Does it have a GPS chip onboard.
How much onboard memory.
Does the OS allow you to shift apps to the SD card
What is the battery life, especially when using wifi and bluetooth
The problem is actually getting this sort of information from people who sell the phones, most don't have a clue.

If you only want a phone to do what phones do best "talk to each other" then cost doesn't enter into it , I use a Samsung Galaxy cheapie and never had a problem I only ever use it to talk and pair up with my computer when out their in the wilds. Mrs Wombat has an all time cheapie that I think runs on Kero and she has no problem, currently at Woolies $9.00

I own an Aldi Medion E4002 and next to useless.........all the aspects that Troopy outlined it fails...........very limited internal memory, no gps, can't download apps because of limited memory, pathetic battery performance.......don't buy one you can have mine...........as it is used as a paperweight on my pooter table.
