Halve the bludgers on disability payments and welfare .. What next ? 20% in 20 years time ? Trouble is we've sold everything off ..
Nothing left to sell...

Why not halve the pension as well and while your at it send all the Kiwi recipients back home that in itself would save billionsbiggrin

Kev

If your talking about me ? I sold my dairy cows in NZ and bought a house here in 1980 and worked till last year ., I'm a self funded retiree .. I payed plenty of tax.. You don't count on the Kiwi's who retire up in Queensland .. Btw Kiwis can't get any welfare ..

No I wasn't referring to you Aus-Kiwi, but I was having a go a your perception that all disability and welfare recipients are bludgers and as for the ( Kiwis can't get welfare ) well that's not true if they have lived here for 10 yrs  they can under the Australian New Zealand social Security Agreement.

Yea .. I was referring to refugees .. Over 80% are still on pensions ..which includes the families members who came here under family reunion .. Bloody hell ..

New Zealanders have bugger all to do with it ..ten years so they'd be working I assume before they received a pension..

They can all get off there ass and get a job.. I worked with disability changing my job to less stress on my rotator cuff..

I know both sides .. I'm not talking about pensioners ...

The sad part is I retired and STILL paying tax... Including land tax..

Never seen an increase in an added tax for what ever reason decreased after any time.

Do we really live beyond our means?

Don't know about anyone else on here but I never got a baby bonus for any of our kids nor a home grant to purchase a new (used) home.

I did get income tax relief but then a GST was put in place, a further cut in income tax and then the spouse supplement was removed.

Politicians, they have been raping our pockets since 1st January 1901 and will continue to do so at a great cost.

If there is an answer to stop and decrease the national debt I don't have it, and nor does any political party in Australia.

I would say that that there are too many minority groups with forceful opinions and driving political agenda that will keep the debt ablaze.

So I will say John, Yes we are going to keep paying and more as years pass

Thanks for your input everyone but I think I'll close this now.  We do not allow discussions about politics ... in our experience these often lead to bad feelings.  Thanks for your understanding.
