I recently stayed in Dubbo on my way back from Longreach as it was recommended by a worker in Moree who works in these areas as it is well fenced and a little out of town I felt quite secure as the assistant manager lives on site although it is a little pricey $37 for 2 people thats my 2 bobs worth read into it what you may
We stayed twice at the Dubbo City Holiday Park (the one that Bas & Eve stayed at). Reasonable, considering we didn't avail ourselves to the swimming pool etc. Their en suites are close together so you are not able to put up an annex. Short drive into the main shopping center.
Our last stay was at the Dubbo Cabin and Caravan Parklands. More upmarket - and costing a bit more. On one of the nights they had a sausage sizzle for a gold coin donation. We had an en suite and my only fault with the CP that I found was that although the road kerbs were angled they still required a bit of a jump to back over them. The main advantage is that the park was a short distance to the Dubbo Club (aka as the Bowls Club); can be walked but we drove. The club has a great view over the river from the dinning room.
(The en suite at the DC&CP had the largest shower stall I have ever seen - easily enough for two people. Perhaps that will be the deciding factor for some people!)

As a CMCA member we were able to stay at a Members Stop Over (MSO) on the Mitchell Highway for a donation. No power or other amenities but the price was OK and it was very secure. We stayed there for a fortnight while our ute was repaired and they're on WikiCamps.
