This occurred on October 21st at the Airlie Beach Lagoon car park. The car was hit by the van with the resultant damage to the car. The male driver left a note on the windscreen which was removed by his female passenger afterwards. This was all witnessed by bystanders who took the photo. The van has NSW plates and is a Jayco Westport 17ft. This came up on my Facebook feed and I tried to copy and paste it to no avail. If anyone has any information as to the occupants of the van, can you please phone Whitsunday Police on 07 49488888. As you can see ( I hope!) the damage to the car is not minor and I would assume the van has damage also. I don't know if they are Grey Nomads or read this forum but I am hoping someone can help the elderly owners of the car get their vehicle repaired by the people who damaged it!!! Thanks in advance for everyone's help
Know the feeling well. Although nothing as bad as that damage and a few moons back, I had a similar thing in a Woolies car park on a corner spot. The driver was caught down the road and cost him heaps as was on camera. Cost me a few days without a car...."not happy Jan".
I now avoid corner spots and actually park right down the back out the way and sometimes even park across white line as to take up two spots as I have "Clearview Mirrors" and don't want them damaged even though I fold them in.
Yeh, I know, I will be shot at dawn by some here for taking up two spots but I do park out the way.

Mongrels!!!!!!!! Financially better not to find out who did it. If they are not insured you have buckleys of getting $$$$. Your insurance will cover you if they can't find the bastard who did it.
We had a Black XR6 Falcon exactly like that. Gave it to our Daughter a while back. It might look like a lot of damage but it's not. The whole front bumper is just one big plastic moulding. We parked nose into a garden bed in a hotel carpark once & got hooked up on the garden edging. Reversed out & the whole front of the car got ripped off.
Modern cars, just pieces of plastic crap!

yes it may be DD but it still costs quite a bit to get replaced and painted not to mention the time it will be unavailable to the owners. I guess you have a spare car so it wouldn't worry you?
Just a mongrel act by vanners and adds to the negatives we get already. I hope they get hit with a fine as well.
Pete
The second image of the van looks to be very clear and there looks to be some other markings on the back of the van that also might help. I'd suggest putting the original photo into a program like Photoshop and enlarging it, doing this might be clear enough to reveal the number plate and or the other markings that might help identify the van.
Hope this helps. Steve.
