A NICE WEE FIND AT THE SUNDAY MARKETS

As some of you know, my favourite pass time, ( when not working on our Caravan ) is diving thru all the junk that turns up at the Sunday Markets here in Perth.

Today was no exception, piles of old and new stuff, actually tons and tons of someone's "yesterday's  treasures"

It usually takes about 1.5 hrs to get around the many isles, but today there was a nasty cold wind blowing so I had the skates on, I was into the last isle within 1/2 hr and ready to head for the gate, then I spotted this nice brand new Repco 3 stage 10000 mA battery charger..........

I had been looking at these chargers, with the thoughts of buying one for the Deep Cycle Battery in the Caravan but,

after finding out the cost of them, ( from $ 80.00 to about $ 180 00,  I had stuck it on my wish list,

Sort of shaking  at the knees I held my breath and asked the seller, how much did he want for it, and did it work,

the guy was a bit taken back by this but his answer was, "Cause it works Mate, its brand new" then came the good part, the price,

$ 30.00 Bucks Mate, I Counter  Offered $20.00 answer,,,, "Hell NO" he couldn't let it go for that price,  O;K I said well it's flaming cold here so I'm off home , but I do have $25.00 bucks in the Bin,,,,,,,, SOLD ,  One Happy Kiwi  biggrinbiggrinbiggrin

I got the Charger home and had it installed in the Caravan in no time at all, worked like a dream and now I have a fully charged Battery with the charger keeping it fully charged as it doesn't have to be disconnected at all.............

Ya Gotta love the Sunday Markets.

Good find but, as an aside, why do manufacturers use huge numbers to try to think you are buying more than you really are.

Isn't 10amp easier for them to write rather than "10,000 milliamps". confuse

I gotta agree with you Delta18,  It sure looks good when you read 10.000 mA compared with 10 amp,

I reckon it's a cunning bit of sales advertising which really stands out on the package, but which ever way you want to read it I'm still happy with the out-put,

I've been relying on an old 4 amp charger up till now, this charger was that slow, I would have to have a shave before the battery was anywhere near up to half power, hmmhmmhmm

Howdy Guys,  It's great to hear that there are others on this Forum, who have the same taste as myself.

I have always said that If you want something and have a little time on your hands, the Markets are the best place to find it,

It's amazed me time and time again how something will pop up there, and it's just what you were looking for,  of course the other part of the fun is haggling over the price.

I have also found that there are people there who think they are selling new stuff, going by the prices they want, but they will end up taking it home with them in the end,!!

Keep looking fellers. best of luck, you never know when you will find an old tin with some valuable coins in it, as my Brother found years ago, he made quiet a few bucks out of that lot by taking them to a collector, biggrinbiggrinbiggrin

This Saturday I picked up 2 boxes of DVDs containing over 100 discs each. They are pre-release double feature movies, single movies, and TV series that were sent to a reviewer, and passed on to the person having the garage sale. The release dates range from about 2006 to 2012. Heaps of viewing hours. Price....... $5.00 biggrinbiggrin

And a few weeks back I picked up one of those multi sleeve CD holders with 54 audio CDs for $20.00 and another 20 CDs from another sale at $1.00 each. The music is mostly rock, pop, blues, soul and ranges from 70's to current stuff. In the folder, there were only 4 CDs that I already had or not something that I'd normally listen to. I'll be encoding them to MP3 when I get a chance and adding them to my MP3 library that contains around 1900 albums already.

We load the music onto 32GB USB sticks and listen to them while touring, or in the van. The van stereo is a Kenwood car radio, model a year old, but was never fitted. I paid around $50.00 for that and mounted some small Sony surround sound speakers in the van. The speakers are really good quality and can handle plenty of power for the caravan. I paid around $4.00 for the speakers as part of a stereo I bought for my shed. And I have the added bonus of being able to listen to the TV through the stereo as well.
