Waeco 12v fridge not getting cold enough

Any thoughts why my fridge wouldn't be getting too cold, it's a coolmatic HDC-160 the freezer compartment gets freezing but the fridge itself isn't very cold. I've checked the seals and cleaned the element thing on the back, also I fitted an extra fan next to the compressor to move a  little more airflow but still no joy.. The model is a 2007 model... I've also checked the voltage and it all seems fine..

I had same problem with a 220l Waeco. Turns out to be the thermostat was sticking. Replaced and now no problem, probably better than new.

If I unplug the thermostat the motor turns off so I'm guessing it's working but if the motor did keep running wouldn't the fridge just get too cold?? I can't figure out exactly how it works..

what setting out of what do you have the thermostat set to? 3/10, 5/10, 3/5?

The thermostat you have may be allowing the compressor to cut out too early to get the fridge really cold.

What is the temp in the freezer?
Temp in the fridge?

If you know how can you bridge out the t'stat for say an hour (do not leave it like that any longer) and see how the temps are then.

The fridge temp is 14-16 and the freezer temp is -20.. It's set to 4/7

You will need to bypass the thermostat with a bit of wire and 2 clips and compressor will continue to run. If it gets colder then the compressor unit is OK. Alternatively give thermostat a bit of a tap when fridge has stopped running and see if it starts again.

The compressor is running fine with the thermostat hooked up, I've sat here for over an hour and it hasn't stopped..

The freezer compartment is at -20deg so there's nothing wrong with the compressor so got me stumped why the fridge isn't getting cold too..

The cans you have in the fridge are in the warmest part of the fridge, according to the manual the coldest area is on the bottom shelf.

There seems to be no vent gap between the freezer and the fridge cabinet. I would expect that there needs to be some way for cold air to get into the fridge area.

I have no personal experience with these units so am unaware of how you are supposed to use them.

I would suspect it has a small gas leak somewhere & low in Gas. The refrigerant flow is through the freezer first then down to the fridge compartment. First sign of low refrigerant is continuously running compressor, Freezer very cold & fridge compartment not cooling.

No I haven't called waeco yet, I figured being 8yrs old they would just tell me to replace it..lol I'll give them a call today and see what they think, I would rather try fix it then replace it as there is already too much stuff these days that's just throw away items like TVs and other electrical items.. They don't make things like they use too anymore... lol

my guess would be a shortage of gas as stated earlier

2 things come to mind. Is there a small fan between the freezer and fridge compartment that may have failed as that would explain a frozen freezer and not so cold fridge. The other thing is ice builds up around the freezer where the air is sucked into the fridge which will result in warmer fridge temps. hope this helps.
