thunderstorms coming in parts of the Great Southern and Goldfields Midlands regions W.A. UPDATE=18/10 ALL CLEAR

Saturday 17 October 2015 - 3:54 PM

If you live in an area bounded by Leinster to Laverton to Balladonia to Salmon Gums to Ravensthorpe to Merredin to Leinster  you should take action and stay safe with thunderstorms to come.

This includes people in Southern Cross and Kalgoorlie and surrounding areas.

This weather is not unusual for this time of year, but could damage homes and make travel dangerous.

STORM/THUNDERSTORM/WEATHER DETAILS:

As at 3.00 pm 17 October 2015 the Bureau of Meteorology advises there is a risk of  severe thunderstorms this afternoon and evening.

Thunderstorms, possibly severe, have been observed on radar to the north of Kalgoorlie moving to the south southeast. Storms are likely to move through southern parts of the warning area during the late afternoon and evening.

Storms may be accompanied by:

Damaging winds

G'day banjo  sure hope it does pass over you, Kalgoorlie can be a bad place to be in a storm, don't dare drive off the tar what ever you do.

I was working up that way some years back, operating a back hoe, a truckie came into camp asking for help, he had gone to sleep on the side of the road, it rained while he was out to it and when he woke his truck ( carting a load of steel ) had sunk to the axles.

I drove the Back Hoe about 10k out to where he was bogged and tried to dig him out, we ended up with three semi's chained together with me on the machine pushing on the rear, well we managed to straighten all the chains out so they would never bend again, but that semi never moved an inch,  it had to be left there for weeks until the ground had dried out enough to be moved.

take care out there !!!
