What a shame

We are parked up at Benarkin where the locals provide a spacious camp ground (free), shelter shed, power available ($1/hr), flush toilets & hot showers ($2).

Within the last hour some LOW LIFE has driven in & wrenched the coin boxes in the bathrooms off the walls.  Keith just went up there & found the damage.  Is it any wonder local commun ities get reluctant to offer such good amenities to the traveling public .  I am feeling so outraged.  Message from an unhappy camper, Alice

Yes kandagal, I hear you loud and clear and you know what, even if they are caught, some Immature, Mental Retard of a Judge or Magistrate will give them a suspended sentence because they needed the money to use at the Casino.

The small community of Mundulla SA has had enough of RVers stealth camping at their showgrounds & no longer welcome Grey Nomads. There is a donation box in clear view at the entrance but due to frequent non-payers they don't want people to stay anymore. They lock the toilets at 6pm. We were planning to stay there but ''felt the bad vibes'' while in town. Life's not all about ''getting something for nothing'' & spoiling things for everyone else.

Simmo, I don't give a damn where or what you post, but please stop using 'mental retard' as a term of contempt for those who upset you. I find it offensive, and I am not one of the reviled 2%. Thanks for your consideration on this.

Simmo,

Your response doesn't surprise me. It must be nice to not feel you should consider others in your spoutings.

Sorry to highjack the thread Kandagal. I agree with your comments that it is unfortunate that the sort of thing you saw is happening, and can threaten the future of free/low cost camps.

When I first registered with Grey Nomads, I thought this looks good, a whole lot of people like myself. BUT alas, like other web sites it does have a couple people not smart enough to make an entertaining constructive comments, and take the easy way out and rubbish others to give them selves and ego trip. Only a couple of those types so I can wear it.

Folks - this is getting personal and destructive and not serving any good purpose except to annoy and frustrate the rest of us reading what started out as a good post.

How about you all bury the get, the wine bottle etc and lets try to be constructive - even disagree with each other - but lets not get nasty.

Can you imagine a newbie reading this post wondering if the Forum is a good one to join ??????????

Good on you Young Simmo...a different style but then all grey nomads are different and wouldn't it be boring if we were all the same.
Good Luck

reglynn, are you saying I should have said, "Good luck to the thieves, they needed the money".

When I first stumbled onto Grey Nomads, I thought what a fun site. But alas it has the 1% who are not smart enough to make an intelligent helpful comment, and go nit picking and looking for somebody to rubbish. It is sad but old age seems to treat everybody differently.
Before you start please note I did say 1%. The other 99% seem to be normal fun loving oldies like me, and the 1% know who they are.
OUCH.

Well said. The legal profession is the biggest problem facing this country. They infest not only the seats of the judiciary, but also the seats of parliament. Lawyers making laws for lawyers, and in a way that requires lawyers to "interpret" them. Damn them all to hell.
