Jayco silverline keys

I recently purchased a new Silverline, I thought it would be a good idea to get an extra door key in case I needed it. I called into Jayco Geelong only to be told you can't buy spare door keys, what, you spend $70,000 and can't buy a spare key.

I called Jayco head office who thought you should, but you have to ring Dometic, they said yes you can but must contact a Jayco dealer, but when you do they say no until you tell them what Dometic said.

Jayco are normally very good, but in this case someone needs to tell their agents to try a bit harder.

Gday...

Forgive me if the Silverline has a 'special' key ... but surely a short walk to the local locksmith would have resolved it .... quite cheaply confuse

Cheers - John

I tried 4 locksmiths and none of them had the blanks to enable them to cut a spare, I did try.

You are not the only one to have stuck this particular problem, a mate of mine is in the same boat.

I would be inclined to check with a locksmith to see if the barrel can be changed for one where spare keys can be cut.

Cheers, Tom

There is a name and number on the key.Google the name its in America email them with the number and they will send the keys.@ cost $16.00aus$. Yes I lost one of my keys and nobody in jayco or a locksmith had a blank to cut one. Ridiculous I know but that was the best solution I could find. They were very helpful in USA no trouble

Cheers

I'm so happy that I own an old Jayco that's only got problems with the Fibreglass on one side wall and is now on its third door opening handle cause I can get a replacement key for $10.00 at any Bunnings or good hardware store might even be able to open it with almost any similar key.cynic.gif

I first tried two Jayco and four locksmiths for a spare key without any luck, I then tried Jayco head office warranty and service where I was told to try Dometic. They said they can supply through Jayco only at about $10 retail, interesting to see how much I get charged when it comes through Jayco.

I find it interesting to have to go through all this trouble just to get a key, Jayco are renound for there good service but it seems like they have dropped the baton by not having their agents up to scratch on such things as keys.
I have sent an email to head office interesting to see what reply I get ?

If you have lost the key, how do get the key number?

I have not lost my keys I just wanted another spare, I would advise any Silverline owner to write down the number on your key and don't lose it.

I have noted on another site you can buy another barrel  and two keys for $33, so it makes the $35 per key look a bit steep.
