Any suggestions how I can secure my M/wave to its shelf. It's not a fixed position and I'm getting sick of carrying on the bed each trip, I would like to fix it to its shelf maybe using straps, ti-downs or other such devices. Any suggest would be appreciated.
Hi Hendo You say that the m/wave has a shelf. If it has feet on the m/wave you could use the tops of plastic bottles just screw them in place on the shelf and sit the feet in them.Or maybe place a strip timber across the front of the shelf to stop it walking of cheers keep safe.
What I did was got two pieces of powder coated white aluminium the same colour as the MW, pop riveted them vertically to sides of MW then screwed the other side of the angle to the sides of MW shelf. Hope You can picture what I am suggesting.
The way that van manufacturers commonly secure the units in their spots is to screw up diagonally from the bottom ans screw through the feet of the microwave.
I removed on microwave for service and could not get the screws back in so I removed the plastic feet and screwed on some strips of timber with the screws that held the feet on. I was then able to screw up from the bottom into the timber. It does not take much to secure a microwave into place in fact friends of ours just leave it on the bench. They claim it has never hit the deck but I would not attempt it.

Remove the microwave feet by unscrewing the screw through the bottom of each foot. Drill holes through the shelf in line with the holes. Using a longer screw the same thread, secure the microwave by screwing through the shelf and into the holes where the feet were, with a thick rubber washer between the bottom of the microwave and the shelf.

I was a bit more basic with mine
I purchased good quality 50mm wide velcro and secured it to the bench top with flat aluminium bolted through
More velcro on the aluminium and also on the microwave where the secured velcro touched
Bottom top and two sides
With the rubber feet on the bench top and the velcro it hasn't moved in over 15,000 kms of travel
Another option.. This could still work in cupboard ?
I used the cup that fit under your lounge legs .. Bought from Bunnings .. Glued them with sikoflex to table bench, marked in correct position. (in this case on top of bench ) left over night . Next day I filled the top with sikoflex .. Then carefully lowered M/W onto cups.. Looks good, easy to clean and some movement if required .. It hasn't moved in 6 years ..
I didn't want to damage the bench top..
