240 volt tyre pump?

Hello again. Can anyone tell me if you can buy a 240 volt tyre pump at an "acceptable" price? I have a 12 volt inflator that works off the in-car power point, but the cord is too short to reach one caravan tyre while it is in the shed. Being a bit lazy, I hoped I may be able to get a 240 volt job to work off the shed's mains power, without having to buy an expensive air compressor. Any thoughts out there?

G'day Kev

you can buy a 240 volt compressor at supercheap for around the $99 mark

they usually have a 20 litre tank and are great for pumping up tyres and inflatable stuff like footballs etc

they are light and compact enough to carry from one spot to another.

I have had one for years and it has been very helpful

You can buy a Tantronic 12V extension cord (reel) from camping supply shops to take your small compressor to van.

I bought a Dr Air from Autobarn pumps up 6 motorhome tyres with no worries. It cost around $150

Peter I bought my Tantronic unit from a Supercheap about 3 years ago - I have used it to put power through to my small compressor, and I have used it to put power through to my 12V TV. There is a (5amp?) glass fuse fitted so if you attempted to draw too much it should be OK.
I have just checked to find a local supplier and the only source I can find is FleaBay www.ebay.com.au/itm/12V-Retractable-3M-Extension-Cord-Cigarette-Lighter-Plug-Lead-Wind-Up-Storage-/231436757128

Extend the 12v wire with heavier gauge wire ? Or use your jumper leads ?

That's what I did ... simply visited the local auto elec and got him to join about four metres of heavy cable to the existing cable on the 12V compressor tyre pump.

Now, not only do I have a good slack amount when doing all four vehicle tyres without changing the connection for each side of vehicle, but I can reach the each of the van's tyres without changing connections while the van is attached to the vehicle.

Cost much less than the price shown here for 'dedicated' separate extensions.

Why don't you get a small battery one of 7 or 9 amps
they stay charged for donkys and always handy to have

Thanks Cruising Cruze and Old Col, and everyone else. Repco have a 3m 12 volt extension for $16 (less 20% this month for RACQ members) although no more stock until the week's end. That will do me, but will keep all your suggestions for future reference.

Bought one of these for $45.00 delivered with tyre repair kit..
Has helped myself one plenty of others on the road...
Seen the same in Supercheap etc for $400 or more..

You can get a good compressor from Supercheap for half price (about $150) when they are on special. I bought one the other day, and it can deliver 160L/M as opposed to the cheapies that are only good for about 40 to 60L/M
