A very unhappy customer.

We saw this 'van at the Moree Showgrounds a few days ago.

I'm guessing he had issues with the manufacturer.m_unhappy customer.jpg

I was going to put a pic of a big lemon I found on evil bay but due to getting great service from my dealer decided it was not the right thing to do. All good now though.

Maybe the beer fridge didn't have an Auto-Refill switch.

I think most of us would like to sign write a similar protest sign on our new RV's.

I had such a fall out with our Dealer that I now get my warranty arranged directly through the manufacturer and they have proved to be really great (although so many of the problems with new RVs shouldn't have happened, and most are down to stupid, minor issues which should never have happened with better qualified staff and more and real quality control).

We had over 40 discrete problems and they were all stupid piddling things that would never had existed with good checking going on during assembly.

RV manufacturers seem to be like home building groups - who cares about quality, the customer will only find some of the problems and we've allowed in our price to employ staff and contractors to fix them. Stuff the customers !!!!

he hasn't stated if the problem is with the dealer or the manufacture but from the sign it looks like both

its usual that the Dealer notifies the manufacturer of the fault and the latter then approve repairs/replacements etc.

So they may have an unhelpful Dealer or a manufacturer who wont play ball.

Not sure if I would want to drive around with this on the back of my 'van though - wonder if they complained to their State fair trading dept and if no joy, then the ACCC?

I'm sure he would be more than thrilled you supplied his No plate re the publicity. biggrin

I have a Concept Ascot. Only 4 weeks old. 2 small items need attention but no problem with the dealer, so far.

I have seen many types of vans and have to admit the quality of manufacture and finish, most impressed.

Care to name and shame? We're in the market to get our first van. We've heard and read of stories about the most prominent of van manufacturers so we're reluctant to go with them, at least new.

I have not had a single problem with New Age, purchased through Caravans on Cooper in Vic. Good mod to deal with, happy.

Hi Bruce and Bev,

It depends on what type of caravan you are looking to buy. Custom made or off the shelf. As others have reported, some dealers are dodgy. Others will honour their warranty. If it is custom made, you are dealing directly with the manufacturer. We have a custom made off road caravan and had some self inflicted problems. As the company actually service their vans (like a car service) they also do minor and major repairs, insurance claims etc.and nothing they have done for us has been any trouble for them. We have a very high regard for this company.

cheers, Robyn

I reckon it is a Retreat, sounds like the Retreat attitude to customer support.

We bought a Concept Ascot 6 months ago, no issues at all, it was a Demo van ( 12 months old) , the manufacturer replaced 3 items that had faded ( Door curtain, 2 x external hatch ) no questions asked , only supplied a photo-
So far we are very impressed with the quality of our van (inside & Out) and only time will tell if we have made the right choice.

It depends of the dealer and ours in Central Coast has been great.

Hopefully , these people are still enjoying the Great Outdoors.

I agree, nothing is too much trouble for them.

Let's face it, anything designed and built by human hands will be likely to have some problems.  The difference between dodgy & good manufacturers is how they deal with these problems.

I can only speak of Jayco (friend's vans) and our Retreat, both excellent after sales service.

Cheers Neil
