Lawn Hill Gorge, KARUMBA, Julia Creek,COBBOLD GORGE ETC.

Well we finally headed off in our (new) 2011 Goldstream RV 16.6' and (fantastic) combo. Julia Creek was amazing, so friendly. The free camp on the billabong where on Mondays the council arrange a free bus to pick up campers to have a $10 meal/dessert deal at the caravan park. Includes talk by a local around fire pit. It was a pleasant surprise to find most of the road from Gregory Downs to Lawn Hill was sealed (to the Century Mine turn off). Loved the Gorge (cruise and canoe hire) Spent 3 days at Adels Grove due to our friends having a dog. Good but we would have preferred to stay at the Gorge. Karumba - well. Not my favourite place. Stayed at caravan park at Sunset Point. $42 p/n. Very squashy, windy and dusty. Heard the one in town was great and also a new small one at the petrol station on the point is very reasonable. Anyway we have done some very rough and corrugated roads with our little girl and she performed perfectly. No dust inside-I was amazed. Loved the Railway van park at Ravenshoe $15p/n with power and the Rodeo Grounds at Mareeba-so much room and very friendly. We are now vegging for a week or two at Wonga Beach before heading home and very happy with our new van.

Kim
