Both of mine we just pulled off the "pinch weld" plastic trim then removed the little metal clips. The black mastic will come apart with a little pressure.
Make sure somebody is ready to catch it on the outside as the glass sliders will fall out as the frame distorts.
$300.00 costly lesson my first removal was. Had to take them out to remove the white plastic stops & screws that restrict the windows opening.
