Windows 10 and touch screen

Bloody hell, I followed advise from my computer guru son in law to load up windows 10 and now my touch screen is untouchable....furiousfurious

Any help I try within win10 sends me to far away places all unconcerned with touch screen issues, when I do get to a site that may have the answer, I have to perform major surgery on my op system.

1. Dont load up windows 10?

2. Buy a writing pad and pen?

3. Back to the mouse?

4. Chuck the lot in the bin and live like a cave man?

Rant over!!!! blankstareblankstare

BTW the mouse works well...biggrin

What type of device are you using Phil?

As a matter of interest I much prefer a wireless mouse to touch screen.

I have an ASUS UX30-IL laptop. Brand new with SSHD, very nice. Core I5

I have cracked the wireless rodent out and agree with you. So Im not trying hard to fix it.

Phil, you have 4 weeks trial period during which you can change the computer back to your old system. Do it before the time expires.

Hi Phil


Have a look if there is a folder old windows in your c drive
If there is you can easy backdate the computer to the previous day of that you installed Win 10

 Thanks Peter. I did that once before and it left corrupt cabinet files behind which crashed win8.1, rang the dudes at DrPC (we have a contract with them as part of the lease) and they advised reload win10. Its behaving with the mouse but I dont really miss the touch screen.

As far as I'm concerned best OS since XP.smile

You reckon its a good idea to change over and did you have any problems with new running programmes or changes to the way you were used to with 8.1?

Hi Guys don't load windows 10 its very invasive and consumes a lot of your data allowance see

If you have installed win 10 enjoy reading what you have signed up to - Microsoft does nothing for nothing ......

Further to what Meggsy said, there is an article on this in the latest PC & Tech Authority (Nov 2015.) There is a bit at the bottom of Page 8 headed "How to Change Your Settings." This gives pointers on recovering from a poor installation. Apparently the poor installation comes from opting for the "Express Settings" option when you load Win 10. The moral for all you that are yet to do the upgrade is not to accept the express settings and go the long way round setting it up. Apparently there is good help in all the settings as you go. Opt for the settings that give M$ the least control over your machine.

As of the 31ST of July this year Windows 10 was installed on 67 million computers world wide http://www.windowscentral.com/report-windows-10-now-installed-67-million-pcs

Its easy to download and install, default settings are not difficult to change if you choose to.

Guess there will always be a few who have been told by a neighbor who heard from a friend that blah blah blah, the vast majority seem to be very pleased with the experience.wink

I have had no problem with Windows 10, no problems with running existing software and I run a few odd ball programs.smile

 I think that would reflect the number of downloads that have been made. I wonder how many of those were rolled back to the previous system. Judging by the number of letters from readers of the two computer magazines I get there will be quite a few. I don't intend to let those letters put me off. I will be doing the download when I can get to the end of the billing month with plenty of capacity left over to do the download. I also need to check to see how I can save the download and save it to disk or USB key so I only have to download it once for the three machines.
