Doing the lap has anyone gone to Cape York etc with their Pet???

Hi All

Hubby and I are going to try to do the lap in 7 months starting in May next year heading to the Cape, then Darwin, Kakadu, the Kimberleys down to Perth, Margaret River then back across the Nullabor etc. My problem is do we travel with his best mate (Kelpie) or leave her at home with the kids. Has anyone done a similar trip with their Pet? It's the trip of a lifetime and I don't want to miss out because of our dog plus I'm afraid of so many things that can hurt her out there, but then again she will be so missed and I know she will be heartbroken not seeing hubby everyday. Any advice? I have heard a lot of horror stories of mistreatment at some Kennels I really don't know what to do.

Take your kelpie with you. You won't be sorry. Just be aware of ticks when in the eastern and northern climes however.

Re kennels, owned one for 7 years. If they won't allow you into the kennels or cattery, don't leave your pet, do a full inspection, kitchen and everything else.

Kakadu and all National Parks will be off limits.
Some of the best parts of Australia.

Cheers,

Take your dog. Just use common sense, all should be ok. Happy travels.
