In answer to one of the What If questions

image.jpg

So I travel alone, what if I get sick? This question is asked often.  Well here is the answer.  I propped myself in a CP for a few days to get it sorted. No biggie.

No different to being in a bricks and mortar house, only a lot less stress.

10 days ago I was on top of the world, did not know I had anything wrong with me. I had to go to the Dr in Geraldton because I thought I had a clot in my leg, ( I had one years ago and did not want to go through that again), so while there he asked how long since I had been to a Dr. 3 years says I as when you go to the Dr you end up sick. A self fulfilling prophecy.

He took my blood pressure and it was lets say really rather high. So after establishing I was there on my own and there was nobody else with me, he gave me a script for tablets, and orders for a raft of blood tests. All blood tests are great, no problems there at all, in fact as fit as a fiddle. Only thing of concern is the BP.  So another tablet added. Sheesh.

I took off from Geraldton and wandered around for a few days, becoming more and more tired. By the time I had reached Dongarra, I am barely able to function. I would not be game enough to drive. So off to the Dr again this afternoon. I am clearly not on the right tablets and having a reaction to them. No biggie really, just stayed put here, only thing is I really do not have energy to do anything. I have not even had my camera out. So hopefully all will be good this afternoon, however if this is a side effect of this medication I will take my chances with an elevated blood pressure.

So the what if, becomes a non issue also. You just do what you have to do and re-arrange the non-schedule. All good in the world of being a GN........

Take it easy, hope all goes well this afternoon, and you're back on track soon.
Cheers

Hi Sharon,

You should take good care of yourself. High BP is not a good thing for one so young, with lots of our great country for you to visit still.

As the good Dr will have told you.

You don't want or need to have a stroke.

If you ever feel unwell, don't stuff around and get yourself help ASAP.

Take care and safe travels.

Hey Jim & Lambie

Sharon - do you take asprin? My blood pressure is the opposite of yours, either completely normal or low - so I have no problem. Take care of yourself, we will see you shortly. Should be fun!

I know exactly what you are going through Sharon. Been through the same over the last 3 or so months. Was lucky enough to go to the same doctor in Emerald fortnightly and the latest change in medication has finally brought it down. On my way to Hervey Bay now to son Stephen's. Will have to see a doc when I get there as totally lacking in energy.

Why oh why when life should be great, does the BP decide to rise dramatically.

Hi Marj, it is a bugger. It is the tiredness, I cannot believe. Doing a 24hr thing at present, and adjust the meds. He has taken me off one of them, and will see what happens. I will be in Dongara for another week to get it sorted. Could be in worse places.

The thing that is annoying me is that a week ago, I was feeling great, go to the Doc and boy it all falls apart.

If this is the worse that happens I am very grateful. I know I am healthy with everything else, my bloods and ECG etc, are all perfect so that is the up side. Get the meds sorted and it will be all good again.

Yup come on over Sue. that would be so good to have somebody I knew here, even for a few minutes.

It's so frustrating isn't it Sharon. The first meds the doc put me on bought the BP down but my legs, feet and ankles swelled up something shocking. Tight and shiny. So he immediately took me of that one.

I got myself a BP monitor, actually Sheba got it for me, he asked me to keep a record, write it all down for each time I went back to him. Meds all changed again. Will do a daily check and give details to next doctor I see.

I hadn't thought why I was so tired until you said Sharon. I'm still travelling but no more than an hour a day. Then I'm ready for a nana nap.

I was given blood pressure tablets years ago and had a bad reaction ie,blackouts.I stopped taking them off my own bat and started to take an aspirin a day on the advice of my son who is a paramedic and have not had a problem since.

Include, capsicum, banana, broccoli, salmon and Greek yoghurt in your diet.

Cheers, hope you are feeling better soon.
