Need Info

I have only just recently subscribed to Grey Nomads, and expected to see quite a bit of reference to Metal Detecting activities.

Am I not looking in the right places?

If so can somebody please point me in the right direction.

I have been a Metal Detecting freak since the 1980s, but not for the last 10 years.

Hi Young Simmo,

Try google Dirt fishing.com.au and use the Search botton at the top of this page.

This forum's search facility is lousy.

Instead, a Google search gives 126 results for this forum:

Have you seen this English TV  1/2 hour comedy/drama series called 'The Detectorists?

It completed one season so far with the next being made as we speak.

The link below is a trailer for it. We love the show.

Cheers

Thanks Hylda&Jon, I just checked it out, very good, although they have a different motivation to us Aussies. I would prefer 1 gram of gold instead of 1 ton of old buttons.

To us, the understated humour the English are so good at is what got us into the show but I thought the Detectorist references liberally scattered throughout may be of interest to you. Wow! Maybe I should become a critic. smile.gif

As you watch the show, you find their main aim is to find old coinage etc from the Roman era and earlier, especially gold, though not gold in it's natural state like you look for. Watching it it's a shame we don't have the ancient history of parts of Europe which would be a whole new incentive for detectorists here in Aus.

Happy hunting

Jon

We have a member on here that is very experienced in gold detecting especially in WA, suggest Search his profile and send him a private message, his name is Goldfinger.     Some of his posts and threads on the forum should interest you too if you can dig them up....
