Costs of having a Dog

We took our two mutts to the Vet this morning for their annual needles,

Last time we took them there we were told the Bill would be $100.00 for the two but, next year it would be cheaper as we are both Pensioners,

So off we went with our Pension in hand to get the Dogs sorted,  "BOY" were we in for a shock when we were handed the bill this time,

$ 232.00 and that's with a $ 25.00  Pensioner Discount.  %##@*&^^ and the Bl##dy  things

are only as high as a Queensland Grass hopper..............

OUCH and OUCH!!!!!

Vets are getting to be a ripoff arent they !!!!

We just wormed our 2 cats ..$38.99  for two shots ..thank you very much!!!!

Pills would have been cheaper ...but we have one who goes into a spitting ,scratching frenzy if we go anywhere near his mouth..so a backline is the go. And it works too...as both cats were a little "off" for 12 hours or so after it ...just like they are when given pills.

Cheers  Keith

Ha, i took our duck to the vet because the bl@@dy chooks had pecked at it's eyes. I thought the poor thing was going to be blind, but the vet looked and said it's just an infection and bathed it's eyes. Gave me a tube of ointment to apply twice daily and gave me a bill (no not the duck's bill) for $120.00. Then he said bring it back in a couple of days and I'll bathe it's eyes again. I said bugger that, I'll bathe it's eyes myself. After a week it was back to new again, and I could tell it could see OK, because every time I went up to the pen, with a bowl of salty water and some cotton wool, it started squawking it's head off. She's still going well and still laying eggs.

Cats are no better. Son,s cat has diabeties. Have to test them before each insulin injection as apparently diabeties can be cured in cats. The test says how much, if any , insulin they require. Daughter just gave cat full injection without testing. She didn,t know about testing. $2,000 and 48 hours later, the cat is still recovering from a diabetic coma.

"Geezzzz"  Makes me wonder why there are so many animals running wild in the bush,

Did the Owners dump them, because they couldn't afford the hefty bill ?

I never knew that an animal could get Diabetes,  just proves, you're never too old to learn,

but as far as paying that much to a vet, for a pet, I  think I would be thinking twice about that.

Took a small dog to the vet as it had a red and itchy stomach which was constantly scratching, Vet said it was an allergy, probably to rye grass, and gave him a shot. $200 thank you very much. Said if it wasn't better in a couple of days to go back and she would do some skin and blood tests. It wasn't better so I went to the local chemist and bought some polaramine. The pharmacist looked up the correct dose for the dogs weight and the dog was soon much better. Have since done this several times for minor ailments. It is well worth talking to your local pharmacist as many human medications are also suitable for animals and there are manufacturers recommendations for dosage.

Worse than the Dentist aren't they? We had a lump removed from our 11 year old Boxers hind leg 2 weeks back. Cost over a grand & an extra $300 if we wanted it analysed. We've had 3 Boxers over the past 25 years & you're lucky if they get to 11 years old so we decided against getting it analysed. She had the straight cut out & sew up job. It was 2 grand for a skin graft job! She's doing fine.

My Jack Russell jumped thru a wire fence a few weeks ago and ripped his chest open on a wire join. Not a lot of change out of $1,000 when it was all over (stitches, antibiotics - everything a human needs for same injury).

Cat got a hematoma in his ear, off to the vet & 600 bucks later all fixed, then the dog had the same thing on the same ear three weeks later 800 bucks poorer all good.

Bugga me three months later they both needed the other ears done, credit card getting a beating to the tune of 1600 bucks this time.

Then a few weeks later the wife comes in & states the horse has mastitis & the vet will have to come out for a "house call" I was heading for the gun safe & working out how big the hole would need to be to bury a horse when the vet turned up, long story short, treatment of the infected teat, antibiotics & call out was only 220 bucks, bugga the dog & cat my next pet will be a horse!!

"Yep" these Pets can sure cost a Bloke a Buck or three, that's for sure,

I had to go down to the Super Market the other day for the "Dear One",

She said there was only a few things on a list that were forgotten on our last visit, and it shouldn't cost more than $ 100.00,

Didn't take much notice of the list until I got there, then saw,  Dog can food, Dog teeth chews, dog shampoo, dog worm tablets,

"OH" look there's something we can use...... one bottle of milk,  cost  $ 98.95 Bloody Dogs, Bloody Woman, furiousfuriousfurious
