was going to up load a pic to ask what something was but when i previewed it the photo was huge ? do i need to reduce the pic to a small size ? so it dosent take forever to load ?or use peoples bandwith to look at it ?
Yes you should reduce photos before uploading them. Use one of your photo editing programmes for resizing. The most suitable size for forums is 800 x 600 pixels. If they are much larger you have to fiddle around when reading them. The smaller pictures load quicker. Also members who are running on limited download allowances (particularly those on the road with 3G or 4G connections) detest large photos eating up their download capacity.

I can also recommend PixResizer. Very easy to use and it reduces images with better clarity and smaller file size than Adobe Photoshop can do.

ok not having much luck here have reduced the pics 3 times down to about 1.5 inches in size and they still appear to take over the whole page when i insert then using gimp 2 program which normally works well
David, if you are using windows, right click on the pic, select "edit" and it will open in paint. Select resize and click the pixels button. type 600 in the top box and the bottom box will show an appropriate size to keep the picture perspective. Select "save as" and enter the new name for your resized picture, and a destination for it to be saved to. Done. Better to keep the original picture at full size so that you can print it later if you want to.
I just saw you use gimp, are you using linux maybe?
