Troopy,
Thanks for the lead, I would love to find an alternative to windows that I was comfortable with, it's the " I don't know" thing that get in the way, as my old "Pappy" used to say, "you can do anything, if you just take the time".
Well my old pappy never had a computer I'm sure, I've tried setting up a bootable USB Linux mint and or Ubuntu, both got half way through 900MBs and failed, tried a couple of times, there goes a bit of data!!!! also tried the bootable USB and it came up with an error, saying the usb wouldn't be bootable, tried a couple of times with a good size USB-120 gig, I tried the sites that were mentioned in this thread but neither worked, maybe "Bill" will miss me if I change from "Mickysoft", any ideas???
Download a bootable .iso file for a CD, burn it to CD then boot from that. That will give you an idea how it all works, but you won't be able to save any system changes you make.
