Anything will do. Too big and you'll get motion sickness, too small and you'll get eyestrain. Just make sure you can lay in on the bed when you travel. There are a few articles on TVs in this forum. Try SEARCH.
Welcome to the forum Helen. We recently replaced a TV in our van with one from KMart - it was on special and cost us $200 for a 23" and it works great. Check that the TV has a 12 volt power inlet (saves messing about with inverters and the like).
UEC ALLTECH make a Vast certified model . 12 volt. Think mine cost about $400 +,- ? This has the Vast system inside the TV already. No need to have a separate "set top box "
Comes with a Vast free to air sattelite card. Means you can get all the free to air stations ABC, SBS, GWN, TEN, ONE, ELEVEN, 7TWO, GEM. etc. For every state. That is where ever you are you can get the TV programmes for your home state, if required from the satellite . It takes a normal antenna as well.
Use an ordinary antenna or a sat dish as desired. Plays USB hardrive for recorded movies music etc. We dont carry DVD's now.
We record all our movies on a potable hard drive. Think we had in excess off 200 movies on it for this trip.

I have a 22" Kogan with DVD included , this unit is 12v with an adaptor for 240v. Cost about $200.00 delivered a couple of years ago. I am very happy with It.

Agreed. To do that, look at the back of the set. A lot of small models have a power brick that changes the 240 V AC power to 12 V DC. If you see one with a power brick check that the output is 12 V. The 12 V lead from the power brick will terminate in a power plug that connects to a socket in the back or the cabinet.
You will find some models have a 240 V twin core power lead that passes through the rear of the body. These are not 12 V sets. Steer clear of these if you think you will wish to camp off power but would still like to watch TV.

Can any of these TVs play DVD movies off a USB stick? Aldi were recently selling 128GB sticks for $60. I reckon each stick should be able to hold 100 or more 1hour movies in compressed AVI format.

The Kogan units and just about any TV will play all formats via a USB stick or separate hard drive.
One thing of note is that the cheaper the TV the poorer quality the sound will be PLUS reception in weak signal areas will be better in higher priced TVs due to their superior design.
Unfortunately you usually cannot check sound and signal sensitivity before you buy - even asking someone who has a JVC or whatever also can be meaningless as they change chassis design every few years and the unit you buy this year will be subtly different from last years.
We are currently going through this problem as well - our el-cheapo TV is having problems with weak signal and poor sound whilst others around us with bigger and better tv's have good signal (but not all). This is at Grassy Head south of Macksville.
The next problem is deciding what antenna!!!!

I agree about the sound, but as far as signal sensitivity is concerned, it is a mixed bag. The more expensive ones can be just as hit and miss as the cheaper ones. Your antenna system will have more influence on the reception usually.
