trying to trace good Samaritans

We had blowout on our caravan on the Cloncurry Normanton Development road on the 22nd of June. We had trouble lifting the caravan axle high enough and a kind couple stopped to help out. Sunil took very ill and this couple helped Shashi to pack up after the wheel was changed as Sunil was no good to any one. It just so happens that Sunil was having a heart attack. We turned around to get back to Cloncurry to replace tyres but in our haste forgot exchange particulars. This couple were towing a small caravan with a ute. They had three small dogs with them. The gentleman recently had surgery on both knees. The caravan had its entry on the back. We believe that they were on their way to 'Terry Smith lookout'. If anyone knows these lovely people, please let them know that Shashi and Sunil are eternally grateful and their help bough us some time that most probably saved Sunil's life. Sunil was flown from Cloncurry to Townsville for some bypass surgery and is recovering well.

Sounds like a good ending to an unpleasent experience for sure. I know what Sunil is going though as I too have had bypass surgery many moons back. NOT NICE.

I'm just about to start heading south from Townsville.

Keep Safe out there.

What a refreshing story . It can sometimes be hard to find help out there , as you read so many bad experiences others have had before. Thankfully all is not bad and help can be found sometimes. Get well Sunil.

Im sure these generous helpers realized how much you appreciated their help at the time. It also makes the helper feel good when assistance can be given to others.

Its interesting how RVers react to offers of help. We always stop if we see an RV stopped on the side of the road. Hopefully this will happen for us if we ever need help.

Funny how people react though. We stopped for stationary caravan on a narrow road with no edge to the road, so they were blocking the lane, which made us assume something was wrong. We stopped about 20 metres further on (so traffic could get past) and I walked back. From out of the scrub emerged a very elderly couple carrying cameras.

I asked if they needed help and got told fairly rudely they were taking photos of native flowers and if they needed help they would have stood on the road and waved down passersbys. I was speechless (not a condition I often suffer from), so I just shook my head - wished a Triple would run into the rear of their vehicles while they were strolling in the bush - and drove on.

But I still stop for an RV on the side of the road - shout out hello and are they ok........

Thanks everyone for your kind thoughts. I am recovering well. We are heading home with more over night stops. Shashi is driving as I am not allowed to for another 12 days. Then I should be able to take some of thecdriving on.
