I was unfortunate enough to own one of the heaps of rubbish caused us much grief and money. The subframe cracked out from towing their tow rating is too high for the vehicles capability
In other words if 'Jeep' spent less on advertising/promoting their vehicles and more on quality control while building them, they would sell themselves.....always wary and weary of advertisers who promote their product ad nauseum...these days with social media etc their attributes will sell themselves, likewise their faults/deficiences will be widely promulgated.....how many times in life can you come unstuck simply relying on looks and ignoring the actual workings.......lol...Hoo Roo

The fault that worries us the most is the model that the accelerator pedal gets stuck down & won't back off! Imagine that, coming down a steep winding road with your van on the back.

The biggest concentration of Jeeps in one city we've seen so far is Perth. Almost every over mother is running around to the school and shops in one. They are very popular over there with new(ish) immigrants from the white Cliffs of Dover (got to be PC here and not be racist, otherwise I will be caned and sent to the naughty room)

don't ever try to get parts for one wait for months. My son is an insurance assessor says the headlights alone cost in the thousands. We only bought one as it was easier for SHMBO to get into now she uses a step
well said Gunny, unbelievable the silly, uninformed comments from so many who have never even driven one, just been told by a friend of a friend etc etc.

There is more to the story than is mentioned. There is case going where Jeep say that Clyde Campbell riped them off.
Jeep owners of 10 to 15 years ago had all sorts of issues but anyone I know with a newer one likes them.
I find the comments remarkable from all of the posts. I would like to know who, from the people who have commented, owns a Jeep Grand Cherokee.
I have met dozens of people in my travels who own a JGC and ALL of the comments are "best car I have owned".
I have yet to meet a JGC owner who has bagged the brand as you guys have done.
Do you guys live in the real world or believe in innuendo and "some guy said" mentality.
Gunny
It's just your typical "Tall Poppy Syndrome"......knock the high achiever. Why let the facts get in the way of a good yarn? When did people start believing what they read in the papers, anyway?
I confess, I own a JGC and after 52 years driving, I can honestly say, "It's the best car I have ever driven and towed with"
Yesterday at the CP, there were four vans in a row (one mine) and three of them were towed by Jeep Grand Cherokees. Whenever I meet another GJC owner on our travels, I always ask "How's the Jeep going?" and so far, I haven't had any adverse comments.

I must confess I have a JGC WK1 - travelled 65,000km and now over 2 years old. No problems at all and tows a 2.8t caravan like a box trailer. Just travelled from Bundy to Mullumbimby and recorded 14.2 l/100km. I was in Mataranka in July and there were 6 JGC's in the caravan park and ALL owners said the same - "best car I have owned".
If you look at the Goseeaustralia website, who have been testing the JGC over the past 12 months or so, they mention that the JGC has outsold the Toyota Landcruiser over many months.
Maybe some jealousy from some sections of the SUV/4WD manufacturers?
I am amazed at these supposed informed comments, I have a JGC and done 32000 km, with no problems. Spent 3 months in QLD recently and the Jeep was the most popular tow vehicle, because of these stories I used to ask every Jeep owner for their opinion and never found one who was not happy. My previous tow vehicles were a Mercedes ml270 and an Audi Q7, both good vehicles but the Jeep is without doubt the best value for money. I agree with some of the posts, how many have actually owned one, I would put mine up against any other make.

Have a look at this test and still buy a Jeep? They call it a moose test but it could be a kangaroo test for us .Just a simple swerve to avoid something and it a disaster. Note almost every other car including a VW amarok leaves the jeep for dead.Even after they called in the Jeep techs to reconfigure the computer the vehicle was tragic. These are pro drivers, if this happened to most of us it would be a disaster.
So if you own a Jeep GC don't swerve to avoid a collision, better to just hit it and hope the airbags save you
I have never owned a Jeep so am neither for or against.
However my neighbour has an older model JGC and swears by his, he loves it and would not even consider getting rid of it.
A friend of mine who owns a business has a late model Jeep which he also uses to tow his caravan, he liked the previous model he had so much he gave it to his son rather than trade it in. He swears by them and would have nothing else. His comments on faults is that they have no more or less faults than any other make on the road.
I understand the latest Jeeps have Mercedes motors in them or is this just hearsay?

Form you own opinion ... but every vehicle, every model of every vehicle, has differing stories - not every example of any vehicle is prone to being a lemon - and not every example of any vehicle is likely to be perfect for its lifetime usage.
