Always interesting to read about the great mystery of fuel pricing. Diesel delivered to my Farm this week $1:13 litre. And the fuel agent travels 200 iks to deliver, and is making a nice profit. Tonight on the radio diesel out at newnam way $ 3:45 litre.
Don't tell me we don't get ripped off!. Yanks on internet complaning about diesel at $4:50 a gallon. 65cents a litre. In Vietnam last year about 38cents. Seems it is often what the oil companies can get people to pay for fuel. Paper yesterday said Caltex made a record half year profit distributing fuel for us. Thank you so much. Anyway life goes on. Keep on smiling.

I noticed you were careful not to put your location in your tread redtails,
At that price you could have half the Grey Nomads with jerry cans knocking on your door, LOL
Even if you were to sell a few litres at say, a few bucks added on for your trouble, I think there would be plenty of door knockers from those on the road at the present time who are searching for some little comfort from the high prices.
I suppose the idea is a big NO NO, as far as the powers to be are concerned.

From Coast to Coast, We'll see it all.......One Day
I believe that we are now seeing the benefit of Federal Government policy on fuel pricing, there isn't oneits allowing the duopoly to rip the guts out of the public and our governments don't care as long as they are getting their excise and gst.
When you see each night what the price per barrel is and what we are paying at the bowser where all suppliers follow the lead set by Woolworths and Coles it's blatantly obvious that an inquiry into the industry is way over due.
In Australia there is a maximum storage capacity of three weeks supply of petrol with no legislation to set minimum storage capacity whilst a country like the USA who consume many many times the quantity of fuel that we do they a mandatory minimum of three months supply and pay less than a quarter of the price we do.
We need to commit to supporting our independent fuel suppliers, I know that you will pay 4 cents more but that's only around $2.50 a tank and without them in the market place you will be paying the big two much more in the near future.

Life is like a camera, focus on what's important & you will capture it every Time
on our travels, we often find the independent servos are cheaper than the big three - BP, Caltex and Coles. These guys don't have the bulk buying power of the 3, but obviously aren't selling their fuel at a loss (and no, buying some lollies or smokes when you fuel up would not keep them in business)
The 3 screw the public over big time and because they totally control the importation of crude oil (although refineries here are being closed down) and refined fuels, the Govt has no control over the issue. The USA do have the right idea with this product as they treat it as a nation security issue. They have control over how much oil and gas is produced within the US, how much is imported and how much is to be stored (as aussietraveller points out). In fact the Federal Govt stores millions of tonnes of various fuels across the country for Defence and emergency services use. Back here, we don't even store large amounts with the RAAF and RAN. One day we will get caught out.
We're currently in Batemans Bay, NSW, a tourist town. Havent found an independent servo here - only the big 3 and they have been selling diesel at $143.9 for the past 2 months.
When we went down to Bega - about a 2 hour drive south - at Bega and all the small towns the diesel (including at the 3) was often 12c a litre cheaper !
Tourist town = lets rip them off even more !! Have found the same thing in other towns and small cities like Mildura, Pt Augusta and Ceduna, where a lot of RV's pass through or stay and servos are expensive
