We have a recently installed Webasto diesel heater which we are really pleased with. However with spring just a few days away I am thinking about the summer months & the heater laying idle.
I am aware that the recommendation is to run the unit at least once a month at full belt for 20 minutes or so. But in summer ????
Has anyone any feed back re "mothballing" the heater for summer. I can easily drain the diesel tank & run the heater dry or drain the fuel back out of it & leave it dry (ish) & empty for the summer but I have the nagging recommendation that they are best kept "in use" if you understand my meaning.
Any comments ?

I have used ours for 3 years . Often 6 months or so apart.. It runs off main tank so fuel is basically fresh ..
Never had an issue with it.. Hope I haven't jinxed myself..
This topic was discussed some months ago and the general consensus was to run the unit every few weeks for 10 minutes or so. I re-read the paperwork provided with my webasco heater and also went on line to check and there was nothing special you needed to do. Just run it every so often and it should be fine. There a great unit.
Yes we have one of these units fitted, and have never had any problems with start up we never drain fuel. The fuel is the key the fuel dries as the fuel line is so small it does not take too long to dry and block. Good advise is to run every six months just for a few minutes. Ours starts from one season to the next 9 months I would guess. Yes they are a great unit.
