in dash Kenwood System

any  views please - I have a VW Toureg wired up to my First Class van and currently have no indash gps or reversing/rear view camera. Instead of having two separate units on dash was thinking about getting a Kenwood DNX4150 installed it has provision for both car and van cameras, gps and radio etc etc

Wondering if anyone has similar installed and what I should look out for??

Welcome to this great forum firstly I have a pioneer but not gps as were told it would need upgrading regularly at my expense so decided to just use the old gps when needed

I have a reversing camera screen positioned in the centre of dash and have found it to be a real pain in the #*se as it can be almost impossible to read at times when the bright sunlight enters the cabin from various angles and i find the location not particularly user friendly so i have installed a Safety Dave top of dash mounted screen located on far right position next to the "A" pillar it is suction mounted to the windscreen clear and easy to read at all times and the benefit of that location is when reversing and glancing down the side of Tug and Van the monitor is also visible out of the corner of the eye at the same time  which avoids having to bodily turning to the left to read the in dash unit. The Safety Dave unit also has a handy feature being that it has a really sensitive audio microphone which makes it great for reversing with someone at rear of van you can hear their directions very clearly when being guided into tight areas. and also you can hear children etc if near rear of van but not in sight. I hope this is of some help.

Cheers Allen

You make an interesting point there Allen for me my primary use I think anyway will be helping to keep an eye on traffic behind me rather than the reversing part but I may be over estimating my reversing skills, time will tell

If you want the camera for rear view rather than a reversing camera, you'll need a camera with a 60deg to 90deg lense, or the view of the following traffic will appear too far away. Reversing cameras tend to be from about 120deg to 170deg (wide angle).

We had the Kenwood in dash unit in our Prado. Had all the features that you mentioned plus more. It was brilliant. Was easy to use in the initial stages and then over time we discovered the more complex and interesting features. Sold it when we sold the car. Damn. Enjoy.
