We have a SatKing system and we're really happy with it. The box is smaller than many others we've seen but it works as well. I've heard lots of stories about what sat dish is best but we've traveled south to north, west to east and places in between using a generic type dish and we've always been able to get reception. The most important parts of the system to me at least is the WikiCamps satellite finder to provide general direction and a digital satellite find tuned to the optus satellite which provides the VAST signal for fine tuning. After the intial setup we have never contacted either VAST or SatKing despite there supposedly being a requirement to re-register every 6 months and we've been traveling for 18 months now.
I along with a lot of other users have used this mob to purchase our VAST systems. I have never had any issues with my older model Altech but when I upgrade early next year will be getting the Satking 12/240 volt model just for convenience to be able to run without external power when away from CP's.
This a link is for their webpage. There are other companies that are also recommended but this is the company I dealt with and have had good service from.
We have a SatKing box. Does everything we want.
Splurged on a top of the line satellite finder. Money well spent.
We went to an ACCESS satellite shop as it was close to our location.
Was shown & taken through the full set up. Patient & friendly staff.
Agree with above that the Wikicamps app is very handy.
Most people seem to have SatKing units - and haven't heard from anyone complaining.
You will find differing opinions about the satellite dishes though
Go to the top of any page on this Forum and in the blue line you will find "Search". Try satellite dishes and there will be pages of posts on the subject of both dishes and the various ones that people think are good and bad and also almost as many pages on the Vast units.
The best thing you can do when you buy your gear is find a nomad who will help you set it up and show you what to do. It is pretty easy, once you understand what to do, but the sales people will probably rush you through and any instructional DVDs supplied aren't that wonderful.
I was lucky that the 1st time I needed to use ours, the 'van next door already had theirs set up, so they showed me how to put mine and align it as well as phone up and get it functioning with the Vast Centre in QLD - so it youre in WA - watch the time zones as they only work office hours EST.

The amazing things you see when nomading Australia
Another good thing about Sat King is their support. A few times I rang with a question and the answer was right there.
As for tuning we have one of those fancy things with a screen you hook up to the dish, so much better than the thing with lights we had to begin with.
The only one I have heard people complain about is ITech, but that is just hearsay.
As you can see I am right into technical talk
We have a Altech, wish it was a Satking like friends of our have. The Satking is easier to set-up and has 240V/12V. The best was the Strong now defunct.
We have found if you do not re-register every 6 months, it sometimes stops working and a message saying it needs to be registered comes up.
This as Murphy naturally decrees will happen when you don't have internet or phone access.
We use a compass & incline measure to set up, pretty easy when you have lots of experience after 12 years. Usually up and running in 5 to 10 mins.
We find it easier than mucking about with a signal finder.
We have Satking its very good recommended and supplied by Access Antennas just google search for their web site as stated above they are very helpful know their stuff and supply all your needs. I have no interest in them just had great service from them.
