For a lot of years I attended the Leyburn Sprint meeting along with one or two other sprint meets and enjoyed them. A few weeks back I drove up to Morgan Park Warwick for big meeting of historics, I was enjoying seeing the old cars race but reason I was there was to say hello to my older brother who had come up from Sydney was part of a pit crew for historic sports racing car.
I took time out to walk around the pits saying hello to some of the punters and running my eyes over te cars that I knew but the one thing that stood out was not only are the cars getting older and still looking beautiful, the drivers are getting seriously older and not looking as young as they once were.
little old men driving very fast race cars, it don't seem right. Ralph
Hey John, I assume you mean 167 ??
That is a 1947 Bristol. Only 4 door made. Built in the same factory where the Bristol Bombers of WW11 were built. From aluminium formerly in a bomber. The exhaust spoke with authority, very sweet.
Jules, we are at Texas at the moment. Heading out to Lightning Ridge then north to be at Gympie in 2 months for a grand daughters wedding.
Leasurely pace as usual. Free camping at every opportunity.
Ralph, yes. Great to see the grey hair on top of the racing suits.
Some were definately getting older but I wager not slower,

I think you'll find that Bristol (167) is a 405 model made in 1954.
Not being knoweldgable in Bristols I merely recounted the story told by the commentator.
He convinced me. Details like the rear seat being higher than the front so the rear passengers can see over the front seat people.
I guess the commentator reads the info he was given. Maybe it might not be all spot-on. Sure was entertaining, all the same.
