Well we have been on the road for nearly 12 weeks and have traveled from Brisbane to Derby so far. Absolutely loving the experience. We have stayed in free camps, show grounds and caravan parks ( not very many of these tho ) We have met some wonderful people along the way, been invited to camp out on peoples properties when we get to their neck of the wood, but have met 1 or 2 people who probably should never have left home.
It was so good to see the ocean ( well King Sound at Derby ). The only prob we have had so far was trying to book into Broome (having probs with solar so need a caravan Park here and i need to be close to P.O while there ) Anyway no caravan park will accept pets at present and overflow parks ( PCYC & Pistol Club ) wont accept you without pets. We are travelling with friends who have pets but we dont so they could go into overflow at cheaper cost while we would have to go to normal CP at top season prices. Solved the prob by going to Derby and staying at the West Kimberley Lodge Caravan Park for 1 week ($200 p/w ) we can get solar checked out and then stay outside Broome for a few days at either Gateway CP ( $30p/n no power or Roebucks Roadhouse ( $33p/n with power ) We have been fortunate that so far we havent had to pay more than $35p/n at C/P's
Our fortnightly budget is our pension ( if money runs out before payday we prop at free camp until payday ) so far we haven't come close to using up our pension. We travel as far as we feel like on our travel days. Distances have varied from 48klm to 180klm. We pull up at a place we like the looks of and so far that has worked well for us, we have seen some amazing places. Looking forward to the next 12 weeks to see how far that takes us.
Sounds like you have slotted in well to the life and enjoying the playground to it's fullest, well done.
Now, as for pets, maybe get yourself a toy dog that looks real and put a lead on, sit outside van next to a food and water bowl. I remember many moons ago now when renting a house we had a real looking Old English Sheep Dog that sat inside the door. One day we got a knock at front door, the local council Ranger said you have a dog not registered, yeh, he is very friendly and loves people, can I see him he said, yeh sure, open door and Ranger said, it's a toy, yeh. Turns out some lovely neighbour reported us. Ranger saw funny side.
Keep Safe out there.

Great to hear you are enjoying yourselves. Thanks for the info about the finances. We are planning to start travelling in 2 years full time with only the rent from the family home as our regular income. We will have a small fund for emergency, so you have given us confidence that we can do it.
