your registration is Australia wide, you only have to change states if you wish to by email or phone them

The only reason to change zones when going interstate is to get local news (and ads) and also to be on the correct timezone.

You can actually do it yourself by going into settings , then time zone and select the state you are in.

If you stay registered as NSW and travel to Qld, SA, NT, or WA you can watch ABC programs up to two hours ahead of time.
This is great for some ABC shows that start at 9:00/9:30pm
WE live in WA and last time I travelled east I stayed as NSW all the way around, it doesn't seem to effect the signal but as someone said you get the advertisements for NSW instead of where you are. Big deal!

I must have some settings wrong. I am registered as travelling. In NSW at the moment and Imparga gives me adds from all over country Aust, mainly Alice Springs. Southern Cross news is 7 news from Victoria and Imparga is 9 news from Sydney. I have ABC and SBS from all states plus the regional news from all states.

That only changes your 'in house' settings.  It won't let you watch the 6 o'clock news at 5.30pm or maybe even 8pm for example as you can by changing your Region with Vast.

Cheers Neil

And that is how it is with the Vast system. If you change regions to say north Qld or NT you will get news from different cities but the ads and the programming will be the same but at local time.
