just wondering if anyone can tell us is there a reciprocal agreement with all the states motoring and roadside assistance groups where they will assist you if in a different state or do you have to be a member of all of them??..

No, you don't have to buy memberships in all states.
You buy in you home state, if a problem occurs you ring the one you are a member of in your home state, they will make all arrangements for you in the state you are currently travelling in.
I am with RACV, I've had a battery replaced while in Qld, and a windscreen replaced while in WA.
Yes there is reciprocal agreements for basic services. They all use the same roadside assistance number - 13 11 11. However if you require to exercise your premium membership rights when in another state you must inform the local organisation of this. I did this when I blew an oil pump when in WA. The local WA people transferred me to the NRMA (actually back and forward several times.) This needs to be done as your local body carries the extra cost of the premium service and they need to know what is going on.

The New Zealand system also will give you a three month free membership with the same services that you hold here; only found out last year when we went in to get some maps.

we're from WA and got a real phone sales pitch when I contacted the RAC. They'd even tow/repair our ute on the dark side of the moon and tow the 'van as well. It would only take a few hours for a contractor to arrive. Knowing this was total bs, I cornerned one of their road side assistance staff. He knew about their sales hype and told me to get them to send out the conditions by email. I did, and I don't have road side assist. I use the one that cost me nothing which came with my ute and runs for 5 years.
READ the fine print before paying folks - they are just another insurance company !!!!

Don't know about WA RAC B&B ... but my son and I are in RACV Total Care.
He is currently in QLD. Hilux broke down between Tambo and Springsure on the Development road.
Certainly it took them six hours to get to him (from Emerald) - but they did. He was flat-towed to the Toyota place in Springsure, stayed in a motel for the night - all at no cost to him.
He did have to pay for the repairs by the Toyota bloke.
Certainly it is imperative to read the 'fine print' ... but I do know that RACV Total Care is well worth the money from being a RACV and RACQ member for nearly 50 years - you can switch your membership between them and continue your membership.

Check your width. I had my file/receipt endorsed with my van's width which is about 20mm wider than this & a notation that it is covered ... we'll see.

I suspect the RAC in WA is not as good as the Eastern States ones. I certainly know not to believe what their customer call centre sales people tell you. I was just grossly lied to throughout my conversation with their salesperson. I asked them what would happen if I broke down on say the Birdsville Track. Her response was they would have a contractor there within 2 hours !!! She either didn't have a clue where that was or just kept on lying to make a sale.
When I did get them to email their contract out, it included a sentence that their staff were paid a commission for a sale. The other one was if I took out the RAC's top cover it only applied in WA and not out of State when I would only get basic cover. There was no mention that they would do what PeterD had with his NRMA policy.

As stated in a previous post, there is a unique 13 number for all motoring associations (RACV, RACQ, NRMA etc). That operator puts the call through to the agency that you have your roadside assistance with and that organisation authorises the required assistance - and picks up the bill.
I guess RACV might be in advance of the others, praps ... a visit to your roadside assistance mob's respective office to get the up-to-date information might be in order.

Folks. On advise from RACQ , I paid for roadside assistance for my motorhome. 4490kg. A year later I found out that they would not attend to a callout for the vehicle because it was too big. I complained, the fella in the Caloundra office apologised but I did not get my money back. Now have roadside assistance through Mercedes but the funny thing is that when we broke down in Springsure, guess who Merc sent out to help us.....RACQ. between the two of us and the book, worked out it was a fuse issue. 5hey have an agreement with Merc roadside assist but not their members even though they took my first year payment. Plus their damn vehicle insurance is too high. Cheers Phil
as a 50 year member of NRMA i have found them very good but if I need maps or the Accommodation book I don't get it in NSW as they charge for it and its free in QLD we have the top level of cover with roadside service and fortunately have not to date had to use it, but would not leave home without it.

We are with NRMA with a 4490kg truck which we pay extra for due to the size & weight in the case of a required tow; happy to do that.
When we had the tyre issue in Dec last yr when tyres we just falling apart at 20k I used the SA & the VIC service to change tyres for me as my back issues were giving me hell at the time & didnt feel like doing the job.
All they asked for was if I had the correct jack & wheel brace for the job due to being a truck which we did & they were there in minutes.
Cant ask for more than that.
