Started fitting the new digital controller to the diesel heater, was too hot & sticky inside there so I had an afternoon lie down in the aircon. Enjoyed that more !!!

I made pretty good headway with my new DC to DC charger installation. Only need to attach the positive wire to the house batteries, connect the Pajero and test. Of course after rechecking everything!!! Then to tidy up the wiring with cable ties etc.

Put WD40 on my gas drawer and then had to clean the outside where I oversprayed, so poor Miss Daisy has 2 storage drawers clean and the rest of her is still covered in Pilbara red dust.

In the process of re-vamp our entire van, so far I have relined the shower recess, bought and fitted a new Suburban HWS, ripped out the freezer and will fit a top loader washing machine in it's place, moved the small 62L front water tank to the rear, now using it as a storage tank for Grey water,  ordered 12v computer fans with LEDS  from China, these will go in the roof vent above the shower when they arrive.

Apart from that, not much, Watched my footy team ( DOCKERS ) have another win. biggrinbiggrinbiggrin

Well I removed the large window in the rear of "Vincent" as it was leaking badly. After 30 yrs the sealant had shrunk and was almost non existence. So cleaned it all off and put in new stikaflex to make it better than new, I hope. So now I'm praying for some rain, as being on tank water I can't waste it on any testing. Next I had to check to see if the fridge was working.....yep beer nice N cold......

Well I finished off the installation of a 12 v power isolator but stuffed up reversed the wires blew two fuses took hours to find what I had done, as legs worked slide outs worked but had no lights is it my van or me but I would have thought black was negative earth and white positive as it was a couple of weeks ago when I started this job been busy with, well you know that four letter word that Dougwe doesn't like to see here, anyway it's all good now.
Oh in the right place at the right time the other day bought a 3.5 kW generator for under $900 works a treat it was used by a large machinery company when the power went out back in summer to run their office computers done about 14 hours

Just come back from a month in the desert areas of VIC/SA. Van parked in driveway & being emptied of most of our cold weather clothes. At home for 3 weeks then off to Outback NSW, back of Bourke territory for two months so putting warm weather clothes into van. Ute & van are filthy (red dust) so must get around to washing them before next trip.

We set up the van at Hervey Bay cp. Sat back with a wine and thought about how much or how little I might do for the next few weeks

Took out the old 3 way fridge and installed a new 12 volt fridge / freezer, then replaced all the old internal lights with LED lights, reason is we are getting the van ready for the big lap starting 3rd week in September (2015) not long now.

Only a little job, but it's now out of the way - found the perfect spot to screw in the brackets to stow the telescopic rafter for the awning, just inside the door on a pillar. Lines up perfectly to allow the awning's wind-out/in handle to hang on one of those right-angle hooks which I've screwed into the end of a piece of ply affixed to the pillar that helps support the TV bracket - the handle hangs flush with the rafter so I can strap them together with a couple of Velcro strips.

I did nothing. Our van is sitting out in the front yard with a cover over it, as due to health we are currently grounded. We don't want to be home, but.... maybe we can hit the road later.
Next project is to find a suitable cooling system for when we are bush camping in the summer.

I finished mounting the DC to DC charger, and will test it tomorrow when I come back from an appointment. Our 200 watt solar panel arrived today so I drilled a hole and ran 8 B&S cable to the solar regulator. Now to make some mounts.

While we did not do it today, we have recently had a BCDC charger (not DCDC) but similar to our 4wd/van.  Had it installed by an autoleccky in Wollongong, and have driven through rain, cloud and very little sun ever since (the past week)  Batteries after only about 1 hour driving  are back around 100%. Best money spent in a long time.

What if anything does the BCDC charger do better than DCDC charger? Or, another way, how differently do they operate?

Today I had the Solar upgraded from a cheap PWN Regulator to Ctek D250S Solar Charger complete with Battery Monitor. A very neat job and I think it's the first time in a long while that my batts have been properly topped up.

I'm a very happy but considerably poorer camper.

I drilled 6 holes in each of the 8 angle brackets ready to mount the 200 watt panel, and the connectors I needed turned up today. I plan to pop rivet to the panel and screw to the roof. Now I need to get the required adhesive/sealant to stick the brackets to the roof with the screws. What is suggested by members?
