Planning a trip to Kangaroo island in September first time visit .. would like some advice on the council campgrounds over there apparently there are six being 1/ AMERICAN RIVER 2/ BROWNS BEACH 3/ DUCK LAGOON 4/ EMU BAY 5/ VVONNE BAY 6/ WESTERN RIVER COVE.
Has anyone visited these sites and how would you rate them ?
I have a small Hiace campervan non 4wd so access is always an issue when selecting sites .
Any other info about kangaroo island campsites would be appreciated
Hi, I can't comment on those specific campgrounds but there are more places than that to camp. Get yourself a Wikicamps app and see where others have camped. There are other caravan parks as well, that are not council run. We camped all the way around the island several years ago and loved it all, especially Flinders Chase and Antemamber Bay. Catching dinner from casting out from the shore is one of the things we loved. The south road is now bitumen but be very careful on the other dirt roads. They have little stones like balls and its easy to lose control if you travel too fast. Don't forget to get to Stokes Bay and Pauls Place, great places to visit. have fun
Steve thanks for the info yes are aware of the other caravan parks on island have booked into 3 of them already and will check out these council run sites . apparently very cheap with facilities also .
Will be careful on those dirt roads and will certainly checkout stokes bay etc .
thanks again
