The crash happened just before 11:00pm, when the red hatch collided with a road train about 7km north of Dewar Road on the Brand Highway in the town of Gingin, 90 kilometres north-east of Perth.
The driver of the car, a 30-year-old man from the Perth suburb of High Wycombe, died at the scene.
The 24-year-old Baldivis man who was driving the road train was taken to Swan Districts Hospital with minor injuries.

This Brand Highway can be a real trap for the un-weary, I have almost had a head-on collision myself,
The trap in this highway is the sudden dips that can hide a semi, the road looks good and straight , it gives you the impression that there is nothing on it for km's ahead,
So like me, you start to overtake another vehicle and all of a sudden, a semi starts to rise out of the road straight in front of you !!
Gives the hair on the back of your head a bit of a rise, that's for sure.
I now know why they offer a free cup of Coffee to the driver at the local Roadhouses on this bit of Highway,
If you are coming to the West," WATCH OUT" if travelling on the Brand Highway North of Perth
