Gday...

yep ... that's one

I betcha every municipality has their own definition ... and that is the problem - they all won't be the same definition. confuse cry

Your 'extract' is from one Bylaw for the Latrrobe Shire in Tasmania - seemingly for their Cotton Street, LaTrobe camping area.

Lots of incorrect assumptions from ''rocklizard''. The photo was taken at first light 6.50am, the windscreen of the tug was covered in ice & they were still nigh nighs.
So ''rocklizard'' is very familiar with Murrayville? How come he didn't know that there's been a Caravan Park there for over 20 years & there are 3 signs indicating that, one under the MURRAYVILLE town sign as you enter from both directions & a large one saying CARAVAN PARK 300MTRS prominently displayed on the Mallee Hwy right in the centre of a town with a Pub & 6 shops. LOL. We're pretty flexible but what if we all did what those morons were doing, what would happen then? We could have posted its rego number but THAT would have been an invasion of privacy!

"When are these morons going to stop giving the rest of us a bad name?" - I don't think they did, but you however? confuse

Without knowing their circumstance I think your language and presumptions are simply unfair.

If you felt so strongly about it why didn't you politely knock on the door and ask if they required any assistance? Isn't that the Grey Nomad / Aussie way?

Is that what we get for being honest & paying $9.90 to stay in a lovely community run Caravan Park. The only assistance that they may have needed was to find their conscience.

Keep Safe out there everyone.

Hell Bob - that's a pretty big bit of flesh to hit!!

Bet you didn't think so at the time, but you were bloody lucky - almost looks like the door would still open and close. Is that just dirt, part of the steer or damage on the leading edge of the van??

My missus ran over a smallish lizard a few months back and it felt like we'd gone over the top of a log and the underneath of our van was almost totally coated in the lizard.

We're at Murrayville for a week, this is our 4th day. Apparently the Murrayville police were out on patrol moving RVer's on from places they should not be in Murrayville & just down the Hwy in Underbool. That doesn't include the legal Underbool Travellers Rest. This info came first hand from some-one who had been moved on from Underbool & came to legally camp at Murrayville CP near us.

Actually Bruce, there was virtually no damage to the door, it looks a bit strange because of the reflections. Only real damage was to the bull bar and the side of the front guard where he spun around and hit it with his hind quarters. The brown marks are the result of what happens when you get a big fright wink. Luckily I was travelling at about 80KPH (due too the number of roos and goats we saw along the sides of the road), when I saw him and was probably only doing about 50ish when I collected him just behind the ear with the bullbar (which saved the rest of the vehicle from any major damage). We were able to continue our journey and the troopy is in getting a new bull bar and the dents in the mud guard repaired right now.

I totally agree with Doug on this one. Who knows why they were stopped there. There could be a number of reasons but I don't see how it affects us.

My interpretation of the original sign is No Tents. I have seen signs that show Caravans, Motorhomes with a cross through it and No Camping. To me that means everyone. This one means tents.

One day you might have to find a discreet spot for the night, I know I have. Are you going to feel guilty, I don't.

 My sentiments exactly mate.

I get sick sometimes with the "holier than thou" attitude of some on here, like they missed their calling as coppers (no offence to ex's). If the Government ever had a bounty on illegal camping they would line up for their free camera and charge book.

As Dougwe says, enjoy the playground while we can and live and let live.

Peter

No ''holy attitude'' here just genuine concern that if people keep stopping overnight in places that are designated NO CAMPING areas there won't be anywhere to rest legally in the PLAYGROUND on our travels. Anyone who interprets that sign as ''no tents'' must obviously be suffering from dementia!

Hmmm. I'm getting the impression that some people get their exercise from jumping to conclusions, jumping the gun and climbing the wall. As my US Brothers are want to say- "Driver on Brother, drive on". Metaphorically speaking and not when one is tired of course.....

Hi Santa,

Not a problem at all,

Love night driving best of all. We miss the locals going out on a Saturday morning to get the local papers, Miss the Sunday drivers too.

To give you a days run for us go's like this.

2am Saturday we pull out of Sydney for Broken Hill NSW. We stop Bathurst for our first pit stop (piddle) and coffee break. 7.15am Dubbo for breakie at Mc Donnalds + (Piddle) and refuel. From here the road ahead is flat no hill climbs and a clear road ahead with over taking a will.

Cobar is early lunch + (Piddle) 11.30am. Again a clear road ahead with over taking at will. Arriving Broken Hill 1144km Must Piddle ouch, by 5pm . Refuel ready for Port Augusta SA the next morning. Dinner at the Muscians club B Hill, and a early night.

I do Exmouth WA in Seven days driving on C/C @ 102kmph. We go up through Kalgoolie to Linster and across to Geraldton then up. No traffic what so ever. The V8 TTD Cruiser sits on 1800 rpm all day in 5th overdrive and we return fuel figures of 16.8 - 18.3 worst per 100km towing 1900kg boat / trailer.

PS: There's no time for loitering behind the bushes either.

Hey Jim
