Yep we contact councils from time to time to compliment them,,, including on their free camping areas, road warning services (ie dirt road conditions) and their foresight, that the $ will flow to MORE businesses and GN's often stay longer.
About to compliment those who provide power and toilets at Ardlethan in NSW, Power $2 for 12 hours right next to park and toilet facilities.

Thanks for the Short Term Caravan Park at Ardlethan, absolutely brilliant facility.
Arrived on cold afternoon, found the site and decided to stay rather than go on to West Wyalong. Just spent $28 at supermarket, $10 on local raffle tickets and tomorrow I'll get diesel here rather than West Wyalong and need about 120 litres so about $160 again to be spent. Maybe a coffee before we head off tomorrow.
So thanks to your council/community we will spend over $200 here rather than West Wyalong. We love small towns and take back roads to enjoy them and support them if we can on limited budget. We will be back and promote this facility to others.
Cheers Barry

I am a previous tent camper and long time Volunteer Bush Regenerator. Free or not free, when camping I always pick up rubbish, I pick up rubbish when doing bush regen.
I carry garbage bags when camping and pick up any rubbish that has been left, I either put in my car if it fits or leave it next to a sign and ring the ranger and let them know it can be collected. I believe rubbish attracts rubbish. I also pull out weeds at any camp site and fish out plastics from water ways. When bush walking I carry secateurs to pick up rubbish and I tip prune a few plants on the way. The next time you are going on a bush walk and you see weeds hanging upside down in trees or stacked on a big rock cooking in the sun, it was one of us bush regenerators, far too many weeds to carry out.
Some think I'm a bit nutty but there is a side benefit, I have found notes!
What I am really doing is tidying up my memory of that place and helping to keep the bush pure.
