Resizing Photos for Photo Comp

Hi,

Hmm.... got some great photos I would like to enter into the photo comp. however not being all that savvy with 'puters or cameras etc. I am at a loss as to reduce the size of the file (?) of the photos. In other words each photos is approx. 3.75mb and obviously I need to reduce them to below 3mb to enter them in the comp. Is there someone who could help me as to what I need to do.

Ta and thank you.

Hi Pejay.  Prish Resizer is a Freebie Programme which is very simple and easy to use.  Just Google it.   [Believe me, I need simple and easy.]

The Pics you re-size get put into their own folder as well.

When you have installed it, you just Right Click on the Pic. you want, and a box will appear with 4 different sizes.  Click on the one you want, and the Pic will be resized accordingly.   It's that easy.

Size-wise, for this Forum, 640x480 is the best size to use.

Cheers,

Sheba.

If your images are in Windows Photo Gallery, double click on the image you want, it'll come up highlighted then double click on it again & it will come up as a larger single image on your screen. Up the top left hand corner click on Edit, organize or share. You're now into the Editing section. Click on properties & a box will drop down with RENAME, RESIZE & ADJUST TIME.
Click on resize & a Resize box comes up on your screen. Click on it & you see a selection of sizes ranging thru 1280, 1024, 800 & 640. Click on the size you want & it comes up in the box. Then click on the Resize & Save part below. It's now resized & saved back in your library. To see how many mb it is hold your curser arrow over the image & it will tell you how many Mb it is. If it's over 3mb (300kb) go back & make it smaller. If it's too big at 640 you can type a smaller size into the resize box until it's under 3 Mb.

Hope this helps, it sounds complicated but it's quite simple really. You can also Google ''How to resize a photo using Windows Photo Gallery''.

Thank you to the information that has been given here, but for the life of me, I just couldn't get my head around it, and I was seriously thinking that I would miss out on entering the comp. However, blow me down, I was 'playing' with this here computer and, I have no idea how, but I have managed to reduce the size of our photos and submitted them - yay!!! So, thank you.

June

In Win8, and possibly earlier windows versions:
1. Right click on image - select Edit ----> pic opens in "Paint"
2. Under "Image" in the menu bar, select resize ----> box opens and you can select either "Pixels" or "Percentage" then enter the required size in the boxes.
3. Select "Save" to save the picture, or if it is a photo or something that you want to keep at the original size, select "Save As" and give the resized image a new name, so you don't over write the original.
