Can any body on here please tell me if there are any caravan parks( reasonably priced and with vacancies ) in or very close to Darwin. I have just had word that my mother in Brisbane is dying and I have to fly back. I am leaving hubby behind and he will need to stay close to Darwin as I don't know when I will be back.

I have tried looking in recommendations etc. on here but just to much to go through at present

Robbie robins reserve, polo grounds on the Stuart highway, at Berrimah, Stratco are on the corner. Next to a prison.

Cheapest in Darwin area, 16k out of the city.

Thanx Jules I will look that one up. I know Darwin isn't 'cheap' and it wasn't going to be on our itinerary as have flown there a few times but have no choice

It's not a bad place, green grass showers etc, and washing machine. Think it is in Camps 7.

Just had some visitors leave for the second time, bought there motorhome all the way from the UK been traveling the world & stayed a couple of days with us after catching up with us on the CMCA site with plans to "Do Kakadu" while in the NT.

Fridge micro-processor packed it in while they were away & could only run on 240v. Long story short is parts only available UK & Germany, caravan parks too bloody expensive & crowded so we parked them up while replacements arrived.

Jury rigged a switch & relay into the system so they could run on 12v & gas for a couple of days exploring until we could get the parts.

They took the wife & I out to dinner at a restaurant we have been meaning to go to for a couple of years as we refused any payment for their stay, they were very grateful for the site with power, water, shade & dump point & it was freely offered as we would to most fellow travellers.

We just hope that if were ever in strife on our travels we find like minded people, we are big believers in "paying it forward" & still have the ethos of lending a hand to others in need, something I fear we are losing as a nation.
