We used to take our Old English to maccers for the same thing
When the ice cream man came around at home she was waiting on the curb for him to stop
and the bloke knew she always was allowed to have a ice cream
Hanging with the 2 front legs on the window opening while he was making the ice cream

My son-in-law's Jack Russell gets given and ice-ream in a flat bottom cone. Lies down & holds in between his paws, licks it, then eats the cone.
