At last the ESC issue has been resolved. After a phone call to ALKO (which was never returned) and a number of emails I eventually caught up with them on Facebook (crazy as it sounds).
The hand book was wrong with its pin outs for the positive and negative supply, they had no answer for why the positive feed was on pin 2 on the car connector. This is the reversing alarm pin so only had voltage in reverse. Jayco have run for cover and circled the wagons, saying it's not their fault
I have since changed the pin to the winch/auxil pin which has power all the time.
this all means that there may be some caravans out there that have ESC fitted and not a bean of protection. I will keep you posted on the progress of this, I'm also sending all the emails to the ACCC for them to look at as it is a safety issue.
Cheers

I am absolutely delighted to inform you that I have re wired the plugs and tested my ESC.
IT BREATHS!!!! wooohoooo
Cheers
Great Phil. It is a real worry that there will be people out there who believe that their ESC will work if and when needed.
Aussie Paul.
This is exactly what I have been saying to Jayco and AL-KO. Everybody MUST check that the green lights are on before setting out.
If not there pin 2 may be the issue.. Im not sure what AL-KO will do about this or the fact that some of the handbooks are wrong (cant believe that) will wait and see... If anyone has any questions please PM me
Be safe...
