Sadly, I think the Camps books are suffering because of wikicamps as the latter is constantly updated by its members (not always correctly though).
I still buy each new Camps book to support it - theres so few new Australian books for nomading now - they are all dying from sites like this and google (
And you can still read the book and get the info when the electronic device fails, out of range or the particular web site falls over or down for maintenance

Have read a few less than complimentary reports on Camps 8, we have a copy of 7, wont bother upgrading.
What has been said against CAW8? One bloke on this forum said he did not like the maps but did not say why. I have no problems with them. I think the numbers being included within the symbol is less confusing than the previous style. Apart from that I have not checked the content of the info.

I also am disappointed with the maps, in particular the light grey colour of minor distance numbers are very hard to read unless in bright light or with magnification.
Otherwise, camp site number identification has improved and having an index at the front of each state section is more convenient.

One of my pet hates re the Camp book is that some of the maps are "to busy". By that I mean that there is so much info jammed into the one map. For example the map that cover the south east Queensland area is so congested, that it is virtually impossible to distinguish the camp site and the info on offer. Then you get the map say out west around some of the outback regions and the pages are easy to view, as there are not many towns, roads or site to be listed.
My wife says that some of the maps must have been designed by a man, as a woman would have more sense. Being a male of course I question her thoughts,
Just my view.
