I'm looking to replace the current TV in the van with a 12 volt one.
Been looking around its almost impossible to find a 12v TV by one of the big name brands, most are fairly obscure names.
Any suggestions or name to avoid, what's my needs min 24" LED no DVD wanted or required, had a read up on one with the VAST decoder, but again the brand name is unknown.
These obscure brands worry me if you have an Issue where do you go for warranty if your a 1000 miles away.
We have TEAC purchased from the good guys, 22 inch LED screen, works great for us. I think they do a 24 inch as well. If not I have seen a number of them on KOGAN website.
Cheers

We have a Kogan 19'' with built in DVD, a very reliable unit that didn't cost us an arm & a leg. Some people say the sound on Kogan TVs isn't too good but it sounds fine to us. We're not interested in surround sound. There's not much worth watching these days anyway except for the news & an occasional documentary. We don't ''go bush'' to watch TV. LOL.

Kogan appear to have the biggest range of 12V TVs. JB & Dick Smith other sources of cheap small TVs. I've bought many things from Kogan from a computer monitor, android tablets and wooden toys. I think most small TVs are 12v these as they all run via a 240VAC - 12VDC transformer. I've had expensive electronic / electrical goods pack up the day the warranty is over and cheap stuff that's lasted for ages. No rhyme or reason. One thing I've noted with cheap TVs of any size is the cheap sound. OK for TV itself but can be a bit disappointing for movies or music (DVD or CD).
I have had a SONIQ from JB HI FI this is 12 months old 12 volt ,this is the second SONIQ we have had this one is digital the first one was the old set top box type, beautiful picture and sound wouldn't bye any other brand ,this is a great TV.
I have a "Finch" 22" TV with DVD player built in. Never heard of it before but good pic with ok sound but when watching movies on TV or DVD I put sound through my van speakers or headphones. It is 240v or 12v but I have it hooked up to 12v all the time, uses very little power.

We also have a Kogan, had it for 3 years with no issues. They have a range of 12v tv's at a very good price. Excellent picture, I've found the sound fine. https://www.kogan.com/au/shop/televisions/led-tv/?feature=12-volt-car-boat-caravan

We have a 22" Palsonic HDTV and are very happy with it.
For interest Gundog, any tv you look at under about 22" should have a 'brick' in the power cord. This converts 230v to 12v to enter the tv. Pretty much all these tvs are 12v in operation.
You can, either cut this cord on the tv side of the brick and put a 12v plug of your choice to suit your van or, buy a ready made 12v plug to suit thus keeping the original power cord for if you wish to retire the tv from the van.
Cheers

The DVD, personal recorder got it for me on the 12" Kogan .. Purchase the 12v cord with it..
The. Wire inside one I tried to solder had fibre through it ? I guess to keep flexibility ...
Pita to solder properly in this case ..
We have a Teac 20" 8 years, no DVD it has a transformer that plugs into 240V. with 12V output. Or can run straight from 12V, Very handy gives the best of both worlds.
Would recommend to anyone.
We have had 2 from Kogan ....... One we sold with our camper and the other is the spare for our motorhome. Kogan is one of the few places we found ... Great price, no probs with the set, and great service and quick delivery. I would recommend Kogan for all appliances and electronics .... They even sell grocery lines now like Grocery Run.
