Hi Androb Our friends have a new "Free Spirit" van that their fridge runs only on 12v. Just runs from battery. They have had it for 9 months and done a lot of free camping with great success. You would think the caravan people would have explained that.
I have just come back from a 4 day excursion ,plugged the van into the car via Anderson plug thinking that the fridge would get colder as we when along.Alas at the camp site no go .Then we realised that we should have put the fridge on either 240v or gas a day leading up to our trip.12v is only a holding temp setting ,once the fridge is cold it will stay at that temp whilst travelling ,then when at camp set it to gas/240v.Fortunatly did not lose any food items as we had our esky with frozen ice blocks in it ,used that till fridge got to temp.

As soon as I get a chance I am pulling my 12cvolt fridge out. Throwing the damn thing out!!! Having gas hooked up to the fridge area as it goes right past to the stove. Don't know why it wasn't done in the first place. Then getting myself a 3 way, no question about it.
I am wondering about these 12v/240v fridges. We just bought a 2nd hand van with one in and having trouble with it working correctly using the solar. The previous owner replaced the 3way with it???? Said it gets colder than the 3way. Luckily he also gave us the 3 way and it is sitting on our patio as a bar fridge and works a treat. Wonder how much to getting it put back in. It sounds like the "European blinds" they are all going to -terrible. Now these 12v fridges.
