 We towed a 2.5t van with a 3.2l diesel Pajero. Fuel consumption was a best of 18l/100 km (rarely achieved) usually above 20l/100 km @ 90kph. Anything that looked like a hill 60 - 80 kph max. Worst consumption was 23 - 29l/100 km across the Nullabor. With a standard fuel tank, max rang was 300 - 350 km. Could not get rid of it quick enough. Now towing a 3t van with  a Lancruiser. Consumption across the Nullabor was 16.5l/100 km @ a true 95 kph.

BTW these figures are actual measurements not from the onboard computer.
